C'mon.. no weekend report thread and it's already mid-afternoon on Monday?
I guess there's only a few of us unfortunates behind our desks today...
Friday - Went home after work, made dinner, took a nap. Met a friend for drinks at a techno club called Mio.
Then we got a call to go check out this club called Krysha ('roof'), an open-air venue on top of an old disused brewery along the Moscow river. Best view of any club I've seen anywhere in the world, aside from maybe El Divino. 8) Great progressive and tech house from top local DJ Spyder and a serious clubbing crowd - ran into all kinds of regulars from the circuit.
Amazed I hadn't been to this place earlier since it opened in July - when people mentioned Krysha I'd always assumed they meant another less interesting club with the same name and concept that I'd visited earlier in the summer. Too bad this was probably the last warm weekend this year
Saturday - Dragged myself out of bed to attend the Davis Cup doubles match between the Bryan brothers and Youzhny/Turusunov. Then met up with the missus at the sports bar for Chelsea v Fulham. Stayed on to watch the Man U game before heading to a bar where 2 rock bands with friends of mine were performing. The missus wanted to check out Krysha so later on we headed over there for a few hours.
Sunday - Woke just in time to get ready and attend the epic Roddick v Tursunov Davis Cup match. 5 friggin hours
I was exhausted just watching them... well, the ~4 hours of sleep for 2 days in a row didn't help either as I was suffering a bit. Could easily have gone either way in the marathon 5th set but Tursunov, and thus Russia, prevailed. Watched the first set of James Blake's victory over Marat Safin (Go James!
) and then went across town to attend the Prodigy concert.
I'd never seen Prodigy live before and it's quite an experience. Of all the concerts I've attended in Russia, this one had by far the most rabid fans. They were bouncing up and down like teenagers on serious chemicals... oh wait, I guess most of them were
Seriously, they knew every word. I felt far too old and sober standing amonst them but still enjoyed it.
Phew. What an exhausting weekend! Totally wrecked today
