Weekend Rundowns

Friday: Flew to Stuttgart for the weekend. Dinner locally Friday night and in bed by 1am.

Saturday: Late breakfast. Spinning class 8O at 3pm as the friend I was staying with is Fitness instructor. Into central Stuttgart for dinner and drinks before the Germany v Ireland (Euro 2008 Qualifiers) game. Went to the game. Great atmosphere. At least 20,000 Irish in the staidum. Was nearly like a home game. Unfortunately we lost 1-0.
Back into Stuttgart and a few beers after the game.

Sunday: Up at 9am, went to gym for a Body Pump class. 8O 8O Lunch and then off to a local spa. What I didnt know was that at this spa there are no bathing clothes allowed! 8O 8O Spent the day walking around, in saunas, steam baths and thermal pools with all these Germans with no clothes on. Certainly a different way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Back to London in the evening.

fri - my bday, so i bought alexis an engagement ring 3 years later.8O

sat -
daytime - saw some family.
evening - went for tapas at a small catalan place not far away. got lexy pissed and made her recount tales of "back in the day" about venue 44, sasha with a pony tail, ronson and jason "the sizzler" bye8O  *sighs*

well it was either get married and get a ring later or get a ring and not be able to get married for a few years; and on the basis that we've only just about managed to pay off our wedding debt, i'm glad i'm not about to be footing that bill.8O

s'alright. i knew you would be thinking about me.

I understand the logic behind it  ;)

Yes you and your list are always in my thoughts

Fri - Dusted. Scissor Sisters tour DJ Sammy Jo was amazing! And the crowd were very receptive to something you wouldn´t expect to be suited to main room San An. Electric Sex back room rocked from 3am on and the afterparty was really getting going when I left at 9am to deliver Anna´s birthday present.

Sat - Picked Anna up from work and took her parasailing at sunset, followed by drinks and sushi at Cafe Babel, a Spanish place our friends run. Off to Villa Mercedes for cocktails.

Sunday - didn´t get to Space until gone midnight. Stone cold sober and not ´refreshed´in any other way, the crowds got too much. Left fairly soon and was gutted to find today that my mates went to Sasha´s birthday party at Blue Marlin after.

Ah well off to DC10 now, so it´s not all bad8)

(Lots of cleaning up after puppy has been omitted from above. Assume it for all future reports. He´s like a tasmanian devil! Still love him though.)

But I'm on your 'list' now, surely that makes the list even better or were you happy with your original 'list'

its just not quite the same...........like dc10..........or the terrace with a roof on; its still alright just not quite.........well you know!;)

Cracking weekend. Took it easy on Friday and had a 'one is fun' night doing face-masks and watching trashy telly as I had the flat to myself which is a rate treat.

Saturday: Headed down to Victoria Park for Indian Summer. Shame the weather wasn't better but once we got there (5pm) it was pretty much dry for the rest of the day. There was even some sun! Met loads of faces, got into a bit of a state (those legal highs are ridiculous 8O ), had some very limey cocktails and even saw a few acts! Highlights were Hot Chip, The Fall and Optimo's disco set. Seemed to lose quite a bit of the day! Other half also interview by 6 Music.

Then headed over to a friend's flat-leaving party when it finished at 10.30pm. Bit odd being in a different state to everyone there so after about an hour and a half, walked back to the flat for a much-needed wash and change of clothes before getting a taxi into town for my friend's night, Utter Gutter at The Riverside. Good fun but the long day was catching up with me and despite being invited to parties afterwards, called it a day at 2.30am so as to be ok for Sunday. Didn't help as I couldn't sleep on those legal highs.

Sunday: Felt rough as a badger's pooper due to lack of sleep and the day before. Other half dragged me out of the flat around 3pm and attempted to get some food but could only stomach a smoothie. Got to the festival just after 4pm and it was pissing it down. Thankfully had my umbrella and some bin-bags so didn't get drenched. A couple of pints and cocktails sorted me out a bit so enjoyed Mr. Scruff, Gang of Four and Optimo's 'ambient' set. Got rather muddy but stll danced like a loon. Headed home after it finished as despite more parties, other half had work today and I really needed sleep. Manage to eat a bit of pizza too!

Friday Night: DJ Sabo (Part of "TURNTABLES ON THE HUDSON AND THE RE:UP CREW". The crowd was very small which sucked, but then Sabo started fixing some really funky stuff up, everything from House to Ray Charles. The guy is very talented.

Saturday: Relaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxxxxx

Sunday: Did some shopping for my best friend's 31st, and her daughter's 7th b-days. Then met up with them for some Hawai Style sushi.

Sunday Night: Came back home, got ready to drive 120km (each way) to Long Beach to see David Mancuso. Yes, the Legend from The Loft in NYC. By the time I got back it was 04:00. Superb, superb night.

How crazy are the legals 8O What ones did you go for?

How crazy are the legals 8O What ones did you go for?

The Jax ones. Took one and felt nothing, so took another during The Fall and it wasn't until we walked away at the end of their set that I realised that I couldn't walk in a straight line.

Completely mashed for the next few hours and the inability to sleep drove me mad. I'd definitely do them again but only if I wanted to stay up for hours and hours!

We tried the Wicked Limes - they were crazy, definitely felt them hit and was great, until as you say, we wanted to sleep. Need to be better prepared next time ;)

Friday: Moved into my new house, which meant running all over oxford to friends where I'd stashed parts of my stuff in cupboards and sheds   and taking it to the new house.

New house was a mess and hadn't been cleaned so we were very angry, but luckily the landlord has agreed to get everything fixed, buy us complete new furniture for our rooms and repaint "any colour you want" woo hoo!

Saturday woke up early to go the airport to go to berlin. Security at Gatwick is 8O 8O now - you have to take your shoes off and put them through the X-ray machine, bonkers.

Arrived at my 1970s inspired hotel in berlin around 9pm, quick shower and change then out for some dinner before heading to Berghain/panorama bar, a club Robder and Aleix insisted I went to.

Berghain is fantastic (pic on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berghain ) - I didn't get in the first time but I think that was because I was with a bunch of glaswegian stag do types, the tatooed and pierced german on the door wouldn't let me in "you're not coming in" with no reason given...

so I left and cried down the phone to robder before removing my t-shirt and borrowing a nice corsetted german ladie's big long coat and trying again

success!!!

Berghain was quite an incredible club 8O - all minimalist with steel and concrete and black and white art. Huge rooms with massive high ceilings and a funktion 1 sound system. Excellent techno being played out to a slightly older than me gay crowd in the main room, panoroma bar at the top playing funkier sounds but not cheesy at all, with bits of minimal etc thrown in. Downstairs were darkrooms for all the dirty gays to play about in 8O 8O . Ended up staying until 5.30 8O 8O when apparently it just gets going (the place closes at 8pm 8O 8O 8O ) but I had to leave as I had work the next day :x

Sunday: Went to the IFA conference for consumer electronics and had a great time - place was HUGE, football pitch sized rooms, and about 30 of them 8O - there was even a bus to take you round the place and a full blown concert stage in the garden in the middle. Had a good time looking at all the gadgets for about 5 or 6 hrs until my legs gave way, then back to my hotel for a quick shower before heading out into berlin to have a quick look around in the dark. Wandered for a couple of hours around Alexanderplatz and the surrounding area until I felt ready to die, then back to my hotel for bed

Monday: Up early again to check out and go back to the IFA conference for the morning before my flight. Saw more gadgets and TVs etc then caught the train to the airport at 2pm for my evening flight. Back home in Oxford by 10pm.

I love business trips! 8)
