Weekend Rundowns

Friday - still battling my cold, went out for a nice curry with friends to celebrate someone's birthday. That twonk Kenzie from Blazin Squad was on the table next to us, his jerkoff mates kept trying to wind us up all night. How sad  They couldn't even go out for a meal without causing aggro. We just ignored them as best we could and tried to enjoy our meal :x

Saturday - Overslept by 2hrs  so missed the main pub meetup before SW4. Made it down to Clapham by 12pm, jumped in the queue with some friends and managed to get in before everyone else
SW4 was realllyy good IMO. Lots of brilliant sets from DJ's such as Lawler, Oakie, Matt Hardwick, Desyn Masiello :p Had a great time minxing around Clapham Common. The weather was really good all day, apart from at 8pm, when we were watching Carl Cox - the heavens decided to open and rain poured down on us 8O  Me, Jon, Babs and Tom decided to leave as we couldn't see it stopping. Had a very surreal hour spent trying to get a cab  For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to walk through Clapham trying to find a cab. When we found none we jumped on the tube, and proceeded to get off at almost every tube stop searching for a cab; Clapham North, Oval, Kennington etc  In our funked state we didnt actually realise that it would have taken much less time to just carry on the tube all the way home (which we eventually did  ).
Carried on round Babs' and met their lovely new additions (the cutest dogs ever!) then went to bed at about 3am and had a nice long sleep.

Sunday - Stayed in Ealing for the day, out for a pub lunch and a few spritzers followed by an afternoon siesta ;) Resisted all temptations to join the others at Cross Central, me and Jon left them at about 8pm, carried on the tube to Jon's got a Chinese on the way home and was in bed at 11pm... lovely :D

Monday - woke up after a marathon 12hr sleep, heard bad reports abotu Cross Central so was releived we didn't waste our time/money/health on that! Done some shopping then headed down to notting Hill for some carnival action. Had a fun day at Sancho Panza, left everyone else to meet some friends at about 5pm, spent some time at the scariest Grime stage ever! saw a few people get mugged - not nice :x Left at 7pm, met up with Jon then had another early night :p

Feeling nice and refreshed now! Ready for a 3week detox before Ibiza :D

Friday: trundled off home with plans for a quiet night in. Quick stop off for some happy hour cocktails which resulted in seeing a man about a dog :spank: and staying up until the wee hours getting drunk and talking rubbish

Saturday: Did bugger all all day and it was lovely - watched a lot of AbFab and put a wash on but that was it. In the evening I cooked a curry from scratch 8) for my flatmates and watched a couple of movies - some rubbish brit comedy and catch me if you can which was excellent.

Sunday: Up early to catch the train to london and go and see the guy I'm seeing which was lovely, then off to the big chill in kings cross where I met up with my friends, bumped into grego and enjoyed some drinks with Robder, the pilchard and the embarrasing brighton cousins. Headed for TDK at about 8.30 or so, where I bumped into 3 people in the queue with whom I'd spent a lot of time in Ibiza with 3 years ago and hadn't seen since which was nice!

TDK was brilliant, a little full but the music was spot on, loved the Circo Loco main room (eek!), Secret sundaze, Booka Shade was excellent, saw the first bit and the last bit of sasha but missed the middle, which by all accounts was brillant, but it was just too hot and crowded in there with the rain outside forcing everyone in. Had an excellent time, thought the crowd was v.cool too. Hello to sirens also whom I saw there 8) was nice to meet you!

After a brief stop off at Ferds I decided to catch the train home as I needed to save a bit of cash and really wanted my bed

Monday: Slept all day, had dinner with friends in the evening

Excellent weekend 8)

I heard mixed reports about the music at Cross Central - mainly that all the rooms were the same, really minimal music with no buildups etc. I also heard that it was stupidly busy, once it started raining you couldnt get into the rooms for love nor money!

it was all the same I suppose - circo loco techhouse/minimal in 3 rooms at the cross, secret sundaze playing tech house/minimal, tech house in at least 2 of the canvas rooms (even the ninja tunes arena had tech-house playing at one point) but then also sasha at the end playing prog.

But for me that's musical heaven  - prog, techno, electro, minimal and tech-house = super duper.

Fri - wine, dinner and an early night.

Sat - Up bright and early and got on the rose and met everyone in Clapham and then headed into SW4 at midday. SW4 was much better than I expected - started off with some outside action with Desyn, then Lawer who was excellent and then back outside for some Oakie monkey action who provided us with lots of exploding moments  Think we saw the end of Howells and then Seb, then had a bit of a trance sesh and then went to finish the night off with Coxy, however at that moment the weather decided to stop being nice to us and it started absolutely wee-ing it down  It was quite funny dancing in the rain for 5 mins then we realised that we looked like we'd got out the shower so made a run for it. Cos we didn't have a braincell between us it was quite an eventful journey home which took us about 3x as long as normal   Eventually got back to ours with Jon and Bec and Katie popped round, eventually to bed at the civilised hour of 3am.

Sun - Nice long sleep and then a huuuuuggge veggie roast and Bloody Marys in the pub, tried our best to convince Jon and Bec to come to X Central but they were the ones laughing when we left them on the tube home and we had to go and do it all again  Got into the X Central and met up with Rach and all the others and played catch up, then went to try out the tents and clubs. OMG X Central was the biggest pile of poo that I'd ever been to - Circo Loco was dire, secretsundaze was very average, nothing like they've played previously and we kept wandering from one room to another thinking there must be something decent on  but it was basically 'I'm too cool for school' bollox nonsence everywhere  At 2am we all did seriously think about leaving and I never leave a club early so that is an indication of how bad it was  however we thought we'd give Sasha a go, went into Canvas 3 which was absolutely rammed beyond belief so we went outside, all ready to go and then thought we'd give Sasha one last go. Found some room in Canvas 3 and then Sasha delivered the goods and managed to save the night for us, absolutely blinder of a set and kept us all dancing til close.

Mon - got a taxi back to ours with Rach and co and got on the Lucozades and rose, quick change and then out to Carnival :D Carnival was sooooooooooo much fun as always, it didn't seem as busy as previous years but that was a good thing and we didn't leave the Sancho Panzo stage all day dancing in the sunshine 8) Eventually crawled home from there and into bed for a much needed sleep.

As we said yesterday it was absolutely dire Bec - everyone has jumped on the minimal bandwagon, there was no atmosphere except for when Sasha played - I was actually jealous of you and Jon eating your Chinese and getting tucked up in bed  ;)

Thursday - Flew from Anchorage to Seattle. Visited the Space Needle. Went to a club called Trinity where BT was headlining and an average breaks DJ named Dig Dug warmed up the crowd. I was a bit disappointed by BT up until his last half hour where he switched from breaks to some halfway decent prog house bordering on trance.

Friday - Visited the Experience Music Project (Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's music museum, built in loving memory of Jimi Hendrix). Did some shopping. Got on a plane to London.

Saturday - Arrived in London. Dropped bags at hotel and headed to Clapham Common. Got summarily raped by ticket tout (the American phrase - ticket scalper - seems more appropriate).

Got inside SW4 just after 4 and caught parts of appearances by Seb Fontaine, Sander Kleinenberg, Mr C, Smokin Jo, Pete Tong and Carl Cox. The music and atmosphere was great all around. Met up with Mr Mark Sun and his lovely better half Claire during Sander's set. :D

The skies opened up and poured rain just as Carl Cox came on so we made it about a half-hour into his set and then headed over to the Sun's home for after-party minxiness. Met Dale Anderson and his Canadian crew in the process. Jet lag started to hit early morning so I abandoned the idea of hitting Turnmills afters (which everyone seemed convinced we would all attend ) and headed back to the hotel, picking up a bit of food on the way as I hadn't eaten all day. Great day. :D

Sunday - Overslept. Woke up with barely enough time to catch my flight to Moscow. Arrived home to find out BA lost one of my bags. Watched the Chelsea v Blackburn game on taped delay.

Ended up sleeping until lunchtime Monday and then headed into the office... back to the routine :?

...and Cocoon is bollocks as well blah blah...;)

Cross Central was amazing! The music was perfectly up my alley and there was LOADS of variation - the Key for example, a guy in there played loads of MAW classics till closing. 8) ...and we're talking the entire catelogue!

Booka Shade was unbelievable and the Circoloco room was just too yummy for words.

Can't wait till next year.

Friday went to watch the Ospreys hammer the Harlequins 24-14 in rugby which was great as we had such a bad season last year.

Was going to stay in and recharge my batteries for my trip to Ibiza on Friday but ended up going out on Sunday and getting into quite a pickle!

Escape put on a Club classics night, as they usually do on a bank holiday sunday, and the place was packed to the rafters, the tunes were amazing! some great tunes from back in the day when trance was good. The House room was bouncing. I havent seen it that busy in ages.

So good weekend was had......bring on Friday!

i went to x central on the sunday and it was pretty good. I think secretsundaze was my fave of the night though it did get a bit crappy at the end. Saw the start of booka before it got outrageously busy and cramped. We then decided not to bother going back in there. I meant to catch the end of sasha's set but ended up staying in the ss tent. Circo loco was alright but i dont really like the design of the cross. The rain was great at the start when it was fairly light.. it soon got a bit hardcore though so we made a few little puddles to play in :) My jeans and shoes are fooked now.

thursday: drinks and smokes at the beach bars
friday and saturday: family duties, so much fun with my 8 yo niece and my 5 yo nephew. At night, bbq at my friend's terrace and mushrooms. Managed to get back home around 6
Sunday: Picked up the car that was still near my friend's and the rest of the day was about good food, papers and sofa.

I planned this last week to recover my tan but it's grey and cold :? :?

As I was only stopping over in London for one day for SW4, I'd taken only one pair of jeans with me (checked all other baggage through to Moscow). I had to fly home on Sunday with a ring of dirt around the bottom cuffs after that Carl Cox torrential rain finale

some of my favourite clubbing moments ever have occured in the key and the cross! I shall shed a tear when they go

I'll help them knock it down  I like The Key but the sooner they get rid of The Cross and the sweatbox that is Canvas the better

I think they should air lift them by helecopter and drop them on top of that Hippodrome place in Elephant and Castle.
