Weekend Rundowns :-)

Hey folks... back from Jo'burg in one piece but barely made it through the weekend alive

Here we go:

Thursday - Last night out in Johannesburg. Forced by my colleagues to go to strip club in the suburbs (I generally dislike strip clubs... product of my liberal northeastern US education). Totally depressing experience - all the waitresses were Afrikaaners, the people who cleaned and bussed tables were black (and would be called over to tables by waitresses with a 'tskk' noise... like when you call a cat  ), and the dancers were all Russian or Ukrainian (one told us she was "sold" there from another club in Capetown... another went to the same small-town elementary school as one of my colleagues 8O) Worse kind of segregation and exploitation. The whole experience was upsetting so I went to bed when we got back to the hotel at 11ish.

Friday - Last day in Jo'burg. Overall it was a great trip... photos coming soon. :D
Left for the airport at 4pm and spent 23 hours getting back to Moscow including travel to/from airport, layover in Dubai, etc.

Saturday - Got home, unpacked, changed, then out for dinner at an Indian restaurant and over to Club XIII for Paul Oakenfold. It was officially his birthday party, even though his birthday was a month ago. He celebrated his 40th out here 2 years ago and had such a killer time that he called up my promoter friend and asked to do it all over again  Oaky played a set of light trance for the masses but I actually enjoyed the deep house played by the following DJ (a local guy, DJ Miller) a little more :? After a strange series of events...

Sunday - ...I headed off to the after-hours club Mix where I ran into all kinds of familiar faces before dragging my very weary, barely-slept-on-the-airplane body home at 11am. Woke up at 5pm and then off to the sports bar to meet up with friends and watch Chelsea dominate Liverpool :D Ok, dominate might be harsh but they certainly rained in the goals :D Now I'm home and getting ready to start copying Jo'burg photos from all my flash cards.

Nice quiet weekend for me.

Out for a few on friday night after work.

Saturday sorted my holiday snaps out and a few other things. Stayed in saturday night and just mooched around the house sunday.

Looking forward to feeling freash on a monday morning.

Well this was the most sensible-est grown-up wkend in the history of Babs 8O

Fri - Tom cooked, no alcohol 8O

Sat - Tom was at work in day so I did a bit of shopping, in the evening Tom cooked (again  ), I allowed myself one bottle of wine and watched a film 8O (granted I'd seen it before and read the book but I managed to keep my gob shut for 3 hours 8O  ), then we watched some crappy Top 100 singles program which was quite amusing.

Sun - Nice lie-in, went to the shop to buy the tabloids (realised I couldn't remember the last time I'd woken up in my own bed on a Sunday and been to buy the papers :? ), me and Tom did a bit of shopping (bought a new hat and scarf and couldn't believe a wk ago I was running round in a bikini  ) watched the football (cue one VERY happy b/friend), chilled Sunday night, no alcohol 8O

Very civilised but very enjoyable :D

The group of people we watched with were ecstatic :D

Like the new sig, by the way ;)

It was such a good game esp after Wednesday's bore  :D

Yes hi Morbyd I'm that Barbie Girl from Ibiza Spotlight, would you like to chat  ;)

Fri: Was feelin really down coming home from Ibiza, so quick check to see what was on in town and we were away. Went to see Jacques Le Cont@Snafu, and the music was spot on. Only bad thing was that the club was full of duds, so tried my best on the alcohol. :P :P

Sat: In town for lunch and drinks, then everyone round to mine. Went out in town, and met up with about fifteen new mates we met last week in Ibiza :D 8) Danced my ass off all night. Surreal moment: Looking round at about fifteen of us all dancing, then realised it was just like Space last week with everyone, just a few thousand miles away 8)

Sun: Woke up feeling very wrong, and then went to work all day

Fri - ill :(
Sat- travelled to pool, still ill :(
Sun- went to Mum n Dads for breakfast, DIY in apartment, still ill but drinking wine for medicinal purposes. ;)

How dull :?

Friday: dinner at my friend's but leave early cos I still felt a bit bad due the flu

Saturday: lots of paintings and diy and tyding up pep's office, followed by footy :? :? and dinner at the usual place

SUnday: more painting and moving all pep's books and computers and work stuff followed by cooking a big paella for 8

Fri: Can't remember?

Sat: Invited to a neighbours for a few drinks (ok lots!), then all came back to ours around 2am (cos we can get away with loud music). Kept on drinking then ran out of fags so called a cab to take us to get more. Went to meet cab which had gone  so hijacked another and eventually returned around 4am to finish off the drink. Lots of dancing and debauchery followed until we finally collapsed when the sun came up. Had a wicked night and felt 100% fine on Sunday.

Sun: Shopping, chilling and a nice sunday roast.

Mon: Thought my cold had gone so went to gym this morning to discover i wasn't at all well. I thought the mad night would have cured me too. Everyone at work miserable as hell today so i'm feeling at quite a low ebb :(

Friday: Work black tie function. Far too much drink. Was tempted by Vauxhall afterwards but went home to bed.
Saturday: Quite during the day. Party in Clekenwell in the evening. Then Action at the Renaissance rooms aterwards. Really good night.
Sunday: Lazy day in Camden.

Friday - drinks in Watford with friends. One of them nights where you intend to only have a few civilised drinks then suddenly find yourself dancing with a shot of sambuca in your hand to "Grease megamix" at 3am 8O

Sat - bad hangover all morning  Once I'd got over that, popped off to see my Granny for a cup of tea :D Always nice to see her and I know it makes her day when I visit :P Done a few household jobs then met Jon and co in town for "Let Loose" a new night that our friend has started, held at Meet in Farringdon. Good little venue, nice crowd, had a bit of a boogy there til about 1am, got a bit minxy and then decided to pop into Ministry for a bit of Sander K!
We had our names down on free guest list, but when we got there, at 2.02am, we were informed that guest list had closed and we'd have to pay full price! :x No matter of arguing that it was 2mins late could persuade them to change their minds so we grudgeingly paid it
Sander K was brilliant though, a really good diverse set, loads of trancey uplifting moments, finishing with some dirty evil techno right at the end
Unfortunately we think the things we did had speed in them, because we've all suffered the comedown from HELL 8O I've still not slept since Friday night! 8O Everyone's getting heart palpatations, paranoia, insomnia etc. Just on autopilot at work hoping I make it to 5.30pm :(

Ministry g/list does close at 2am but they've always made allowances if I've ever got there after, who was on the door??

I thought you 2 would like Sander K, it didn't feel right waking up to a text that you sent when you were leaving Ministry as us 2 had had a good night's sleep

Im not sure, the usual big bouncers, also this white guy, going a bit bald? Quite smallish build? I asked if Dave was there but they said he'd broken his arm? :? It seriously was about 2mins after 2am though, so we were really annoyed to have to pay full price. We still managed to get in VIP though by doing the old "rub hands together" trick  (Ash and Russ had got there before us and got VIP stamp so we rubbed a bit of it on our hands  )
I was a first aid casualty again though! Some stoopid bint dropped her wine glass on my ankle, it smashed and cut into my vein! Only a tiny cut but it bled and bled. the first aider was called and I had to walk around with a big blue plaster on my ankle all night!

It was weird without you tottering about on the podium, I kept looking up there expecting to see you but just saw sweaty men with their tops off instead

Ah I see, if it was the bouncers then you know what they can be like  If it had been Kelly or Dave or Phil they would have let you in.

You're getting as accident prone as me these days Bec  ;) It did feel quite wrong knowing you 2 were there strutting your stuff while me and Tom were tucked up in bed 8O  Normal service will be resumed soon  ;)

Friday: went out on brick lane for a few drinks with some friends, one of whom's birthday it was. After quite a large amount of alcohol popped into Public Life which was rubbish and I was getting stared like this 8O by a scary man for ages so we left....

Caught a taxi to the cross for fiction, where I had a fantastic night and even bumped into Robder and had a bit of a boogie with him and his pet swan (was it a swan? it seemed to spend a lot of time in your friends mouth... none of my friends had a clue what it was when I passed it to them, they looked at me as if I was mad  )

Pull a cute brazilian :D then got about 3 hrs sleep before...

Sat: embarked on a huge shopping trip. Bought a lovely new coat after looking for about 4 hrs in every single shop in London. Legs severely hurting by this stage, and I was still wearing the same clothes as at fiction because I had planned on going back to Oxford on sat morning and was just popping into a couple of shops on my way to the bus station...

Then went out for dinner and drinks in chelsea before deciding at the last minute to join a couple of my friends at Ministry for Sander K. Was absolutely delighted to hear Desyn Massielo was playing, and I thought his set was absolutely fantastic, definitely going to try and see him again.

Sander K was utterly brilliant though, I was glad he didn't try and play too much of the trancy stuff, it was a good mix of more stompy stompy progressive and bits of trance thrown in. Met lots of nice people (hundreds of australians for some reason...) and had one of the best nights ever. Didn't leave the dance floor for more than 5 mins all night...

Then with some of my new friends went to a cafe to chill out, although like you Beckiboo I think our jollys were full of speed, we were all 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O until about 4pm when I finally got the bus home to Oxford, probably smelling disgusting (thank god for deodorant in my bag, I would have died without that...). We were so 8O 8O it took us about 2 hrs to get to a cafe from Ministry...

All in all a good weekend, finally had some food since saturday night this morning, and enjoyed wearing my new coat to work today 8)

ah yes, now it makes sense.... (or does it :? )

Theres a lot of that going around at the moment.......also a lot of duds going around, especially on the Vauxhall scene. Apparently all the Chinese dealers in that area got sold a big batch of duds and they are trying to shift them all. I think its the white smiley's and dark blue ones you need to avoid.

I think it's mugs like us who have probably bought them all :x

Think we'll have to do our shopping elsewhere from now on... 8O
