Weekend Reports

My weekend was spent at Butlins with 2 girly friends, I know its a funny choice of where to go but we basically wanted a cheap getaway for a few days to unwind. Not sure how much unwinding we did so to speak but still lots of laughs, great to be back at work today - not :spank:

Which one did you go to? We always used to go on school trips for a week when were little to Butlins - gosh, that was years ago :lol:

I was seven months last Friday so getting there. Still don't feel any different (apart from the wee-ing ) which is great. Nope, don't have a clue what it is although I've had all the women here telling me they know exactly what it is

Wow so not long to go now! I bet whatever your colleagues reckon it is, it will be the opposite

It'll be a foal, everyone knows that!

New York for me from Thurs to Sun and all I can say is what a city, I love London but I love New York more, the place rocks and we only dipped our toes in the water.

Thurs - Got into NYC at about 3, checked in, and then off to explore for the afternoon, got our bearings of the place and then went for food and then headed back to the hotel as was knackered, few drinks in the bar then bed.

Fri - Had a few things planned for the day but it pissed it down from 9am to 11pm so that put our plans out so lots of shopping, snacks, drinks. Had dinner in a great resturant in Grand Central Station (an amazing building!) then off to the theatre to see Chicago in the evening, great show and then beers at numerous bars on the way back home!

Sat - The sun shone so we managed to get all the things done we wanted to, Empire State Building, Statue of Lib, World Trade Centre Site (moving experience), Museum of Modern Art, in the evening went to Maze (Ramseys Casual Dining Resturant) and I have to say its one of if not the best meal I have ever had out, great food, wine and service at a price I can only describe as a bargain!

Sun - Weather was kind again so went to Central Park in the morning, nice walk round there and then Ice Skating. Headed back to the hotel for flight home.

All in all a great experience but 4 days just isn't enough, as you can see it was very tourist attraction influenced but really want to go back to look round certain areas (Soho, Harlem, Brooklyn) plus more shopping but time just seems to disappear.

Bognor - ive never been there or Butlins before but was quite an experience :p

I used to go there religiously every year on FA Cup Final day up to the age of about 15. All with about 5 other families with kids me and my bro's age.

Best days of my life! :D:D:D

Not sure I'd be too keen to go there now (Utter lie! Would bite someones arm off if they asked!)

Barcelona - what a place....

Fri: Quiet night - packed and got stuff together.

Sat: Early taxi to the airport - watched a cracking sunrise at the airport whilst trying to maintain excitement levels.

Arrived in Barcelona around 1.30pm and found the walkway was out of order from the airport to the Renfe station - got a shuttle to the station and imagine our suprise to get free train tickets for our journey to make up for the walkway being out of order - a very pleasant start to the trip. I have to say the transport system in Barcelona is fantastic - on time, clean, fast, plenty of stations, really impressed. Got to the hotel - which was beautiful and clean and up to date, but just slightly in the wrong area - would rather sacrifice the poshness and get somewhere slightly nearer the attractions.

Went out to the usual tourist attactions, Las Ramblas, Gothic Area (loved it here!!!! fantastic clothes shops and little restaurants), Familia Sagrada, Gaudi museums, Park Guell, and then disaster struck.

Sun: Phil woke up with a face like Orville - not green and furry but swollen up on one side - toothache. Bless him, he tried to keep going all day, but he was in so much pain, but really trying to hide it. Supposedly going to the Barcelona match but he couldnt face it, so we went out to try to eat something - phil managed soup so I decided until we got to a dentist the following day super painkillers and copious amounts of Vodka was the way forward for him.:lol::lol::lol: Got absolutely drenched in a super downpour - but found a great bar which we stayed in until kicking out time. No idea how we got back to our hotel....

Mon: Supposed to be at Parc de Montjuic but spent a few hours sorting out a Dentist for Phil - by the time he had been prodded and poked and given antibiotics we just decided to walk around somemore instead, waiting for painkillers to kick in, found a great little clothing shop where Phil took his mind off his pain and dropped a small fortune on T'shirts.

Tue: Dreading the flight back and rightly so - the pressurised cabin nearly killed him on coming into land....

So, all in all, we absolutely loved Barcelona, but because of extenuating circumstances, we are going to book another weekend in late April to finish off what we started with regards to seeing the City and its surrounding areas, 3 days is sooo not enough time...

On the plus side of the weekend - I dont think I have walked this much in years, and due to not going out to eat shed loads, as i would normally do on holiday - I reckon I have lost a good few pounds - result :lol::lol::lol:

Shame about the toothache  Poor bloke.

But at least you get to plan another trip, and you will know where to go exactly this time ;)

It was everything I expected it to be and more, was amusing being by the seaside too, everyone always takes the P out of Bognor but I had no idea it was a seaside town :lol:

I know bless him, but in a way he only has himself to blame cos he hasnt been to the Dentist in over 16 years - he had a very traumatic experience by a horrid Dentist and he hasnt been back since -:eek:

He is fastidious about cleaning his teeth and oral hygeine but he's been caught out it would seem.

Got him a Dentist who will take him on his books and his appointment is later this pm, I had to really explain to the Receptionist that the Dentist is taking on a HM patient who will need some careful handling today..... poor sod!!!

Sounds fab Pups (well cept for the emergency dental treatment :lol:), Gothic area is my fave area too - if you want to stay there when you go back Banys Oriental and Grand Hotel Central are both really nice and in that area ;)
