Weekend Reports

all these mongs complaing about the conditons clearly have no idea how to handle a festival.

 Couldn't agree more - we were all wellied up and had no probs, if you're going to go to a festival in shorts and a bikini then you're asking for probs

Fri - up early and drove up to Staffordshire to check into our nice country inn with our surrogate children Jon and Bec ;) Checked in, had a huge FLS lunch and a few spritzers and then got wellied up and took a nice walk thru the Staffordshire countryside to the site. As soon as we got there we realised that the £15 we had spent on wellies would prove to be the best £15 we'd spent in our life EVER  Fortunately the sniffer dogs didn't take a shine to Tom this year so got thru no probs but then had a 90 minute wait while a mini riot was going on with 1000s of 'northern monkeys' - to quote Tom and Jon 'everything goes wrong when you get outside the M25'

Once in got lanyard-ed and popper-ed up and went to see the obligatory bit of Tongy on Radio 1, then went to see Annie Mac who was just fab :D Somehow managed to meet up with Bomber Dave and then went to see Carl Cox outdoor who again played a blinder, then into the Sputnik Global arena in preparation for Sasha and Oakie (wouldn't have been my first choices but I do these things for my husband ). Saw Bookashade Live who were just brilliant, then Sasha who played one of the best sets I've ever heard him play in 15+ years :D Oakie followed Sasha and the Monkey Man was on truly top form bringing out classics like Southern Sun, Not Over Yet and Diamondback - definitely the Oakie of old :D

Left at the end and had a little aftershow back at the inn but got to bed by 7am in preparation for part 2 and an influx of new arrivals.

Saturday, Gollum and Big Head arrived at the inn so started off where we'd left off with a liquid lunch and then headed back to the site and met up with Ferd and his Barry and Mini (my sis) and her b'friend. Saturday was all about the Swedes so before them saw a bit of SOS, Guetta, Eddie Halliwell 8O the Red Arrows and a trip to the First Aid tent for one of our gang ('it's my feet':lol::lol:).

Then the fun really started with Angello and Ingrosso (we LOVE the Swedes :D:lol:), Armand (who I really liked but we left half way thru for some Digweed (yawnfest) action and a bit of PVD) and then Lawler who was a real disappointment - really don't know what was going on with his set, one of the dullest I've ever heard him play  Fortunately Eric was playing the final set and finished the weekend off in style-eeeee :D How much do we love Eric :D

The scene at the end was one of complete devastation but we were the ones laughing as we got a taxi back to our nice warm hotel room

Few wines, bit of sleep and then Sunday was spend getting nicely drunk and stuffing our faces in the hotel pub and then drove back to London today.

All in all a fab wkend, yes it was a complete mudbath but we were expecting it so were fully prepared (sorry I have no sympathy for HATs shivering in hotpants and bikinis :lol:), DJ-wise with the exception of Lawler heard some absolutely blinding sets and the company as always make the weekend - same time same place 2008 :D

Now THAT'S what I like to hear. Well done, Babs... sounds like a good time indeed. :D

I was bummed I missed Global Gathering in Kiev a couple of weeks ago (had just returned from a business trip, didn't feel like running running off for another weekend, though I heard it was fun too) and after reading this I'm even more determined to make it to the UK one next year!

 Couldn't agree more - we were all wellied up and had no probs, if you're going to go to a festival in shorts and a bikini then you're asking for probs

The reports on the 'other' place reckoned the sound was terrible and the Circo Loco tent was empty and then shut due to a generator breaking down. Any truth in that at all, or exaggeration by people who dressed for the beach and got pneumonia?

Fri: Bullfight on horseback: The bull fight was brutal ad beautiful, the skill of the riders over shadowed the killing of the bulls. The PETA types might decry bullfighting as barbaric, but it's part of Spanishish culture and I enjoyed it8O. The beauty of the horses and there training was abs amazing. Went to the local with friends.

Sat: beach and later tapas and local clubs with friends

Sun: BBQ and beach chill out

then Sasha who played one of the best sets I've ever heard him play in 15+ years :D Oakie followed Sasha and the Monkey Man was on truly top form bringing out classics like Southern Sun, Not Over Yet and Diamondback - definitely the Oakie of old :D

I didn't even know there was a Circo Loco tent  The tents we were in (Global Sputnik, Bedrock, Essential Mix, Godskitchen) the sound was way better than previous years.

yeah he was awesome, i missed the first half an hour of his set though!

i was actually surprised how good angello was (ive actually rated ingrosso the best out of all of them before, and angello the worst) but the two of them rocked it!

awesome weekend, roll on live at loch lomond this weekend!

3 day weekend for me :D

Fri - Relaxed one after my epic performance at Lucky Voice (a Japanese style Karoke place in Soho) on Thursday night. Went home to see the parents.

Sat - Was meant to go to Turnmills with some mates but after hearing Guetta latest pants track wasnt too bothered. Checked out Cargo for Go!Zilla for a couple of hours but didnt really get into it

Sun - Headed down to the Cartier Polo which was amazing if not entirely my usual scene. Managed to blag some tickets from some clients from work even though they wernt going themselves:lol:. Had a (Stinking) chat with Sophie Anderton and then proceeded to get plastered. Only hung around at the later parties for a bit because some really good mates had been drinking in brick lane and were heading to Sosho. Bit of a culture shock after the polo but nevertheless great fun ending at 5am.

Mon - A nice relaxing day in the park with a book and a huge bottle of water.

ooh I love sosho on sundays - it's an experience! Stories please, I've never seen such ****ed people all in one place before  last time I was there there was a guy falling asleep whilst standing up on the dance floor :lol::lol:

3 day weekend for me - just back to work today

Friday: good films, good food and a chillout evening - lovely

Saturday: Shopping for a new outfit to impress Mr Sanchez . Met the girls in town for a few drinks and then hit the club quite early, around 11.30. I figured it would be quite quiet what with GG being on and the students being away - how wrong could I be - the place was rammed by 11.30 and the Q to get in was massive..... I also thought (again wrongly) that the dancefloor would have enough room to dance, due to everyone going outside to smoke and chat - nope - it was rammed - and I dont know if its just me getting old but my god some of the states on the dancefloor (one lad asleep on his feet and "sleepdancing") which was rather amusing at one point where he literally rested his head and body against a bloke dancing away and fell asleep - the "resting area" nearly tw**ted him for his cheek - so we decided to helpfully move him to a couch area where he could come round in his own time...:lol::lol:

Roger played a blinding set - danced my ass off.

I have to say I am enjoying accompanying my friends to the new "smoking outside the club area" - or smirting as it now seems to be called - its just cop off central - have a tab - have a snog - maybe it should be called smogging instead :?.

Passed out at home around 4.00am - early night!!

Sunday: supposed to see The Simpsons but couldnt face brightly coloured yellow cartoon characters on a 50' screen - might have tipped me over the edge.... So cooked a roast beef dinner instead.....

Monday: ovely lie in. went shopping, bought some books and sat in the garden and read with a glass of wine and a smoke..... lovely 8) Watched Napolean Dynamite - (why did I never realise this was such a funny film and watched it before now )- laugh? I nearly did myself an injury!!!

Back to work today and decided to book a week off work in August - please let it be sunny!!!! :?

Indeed. Messy is the word. A lot of people in "holes"!! You have to wonder what type of people go clubbing on a Sunday till 6am! Though Im a fine one :)

There were definately some wrong'uns in there though. There was one guy really similar to how you describe. Its the second time ive seen him there. I think he was there on his own. Just stood right in the middle of the dancefloor, barely able to keep him eyes open and swaying from side to side.

There was also the guy that was snogging himself on the full length mirror 8O

And the two girls who had fallen asleep on each other in a corner. Which was kind of sweet as well!

Music however was Quality. Upstairs and downstairs. Dont think we stopped dancing.

yeah the music is always really good - and it's so LOUD in there which makes it much more intense...

Usually pretty musically similar in both rooms though. i prefer downstairs. Did you find the secret room? I love the secret room

I prefer the downstairs too. The secret room is clearly a secret to me! Where is it??

Quite a lot of DJs and promoters get more bang on it after their gigs/events finish on Sunday morning/afternoon and end up there

Loads of bar staff too, and half of secret sundaze ends up there if it's on.

I know loads of people that go even though they've got work the next day - usually leaving around 2 or 3. 8O but it's completely banging (can't believe I used that word but you know what I mean) from the start in there.

We got there at 1245 and it was still quiet. By 130/2ish it was packed though. i.e. like a normal club night!

We chatted to a few people who had work the next day. But there were still there at 5ish when we left!!!!

Could see myself going there occasionally and trying to leave at 2am 3am but as a start to the week its a guaranteed way to ruin yourself.

I have to say though that there is an element of it feeling so wrong to be out clubbing on a Sunday night that it makes it feel so right!!!

at the steps on the left there's a hidden door you can open with a 10p piece and in there is a little room with a bench/bed

it's usually full of italians who all scream at you to close the door (I think they live there:lol:)
