I suppose half of Spotlight is recovering from Global Gathering by now. Up to the rest of us to kick things off this week...

Friday - Met with some former colleagues after work for their quarterly karaoke outing. From there, went over to B1 to see a concert by Damon Albarn's new project, the Good, the Bad and the Queen. Interesting stuff and must be said that former Clash bassist Paul Simonon is a great showman and Albarn is an amazing musician as well.

Afterwards, went to Mio for Scarlett Etienne and got to chat with her before her set :D Must be said that she is even more gorgeous in person than in photos 8) And she played a good set as well, preceeded by an equally good set by local DJ Krasnov.

From there it was off to Krysha for afterhours spent milling about their rooftop dancefloor. 8)

Saturday - Got up, ordered pizza, watched Chelsea fall to Rangers in a last-minute frenzy, and promptly crashed out until the middle of the night. I guess the past few weeks of poor sleep and travel all caught up to me.

Sunday - Built a website for the missus and her photography.

Lovely quiet weekend.

Friday - BBQ at work followed by Scissor Sisters @ O2. Nice venue! Strongly recommend a visit. Got to the front row but these gig goers are really tetchy aren't they? 8O:lol:
It's Friday night ffs - if you want to be in the front row then behave like you're in a mosh pit and fight for your spot like everyone else!

Sunday - dinner at a friend's in Angel.

Friday: Went to a friends after working late (my fault after doing a total of about 3 hrs work last week), then early bed.

Saturday: Caught train to dorset to visit my mother, ended up taking ages due to flooding round oxford stopping some lines working

Was nice to see my grandmother for what might be the last time if I don't go home again before travelling, although she said she'd be there in May when I got back - nice to know she's got fighting spirit!

Sunday: Lazed around at home being very bored, caught train back to oxford early evening.

Thursday & Friday, down at myt Mum's in the Flood zone Cheltenham (the amount of surface water was frightening, and no running water, you only realise when you have not got it!!)

Saturday, dropped my old Lady at Heathrow, back to town, was in the White Horse catchin some rays from 5pm, then got picked up and headed to the Stricktly Rythem Party at Ministry. Fork me, what a queue, got there at 12, it was all the back round the corner and under the Bridge, with driving rain!! Legged inside, felt a bit guilty about jumping the queue, buthad a belting night, Dope smashed it, plenty of old favs, Dunmore played well, as did Spen!! Hammered!!

We obviously picked the wrong night (a Thursday) for this place because we thought the rock band was a bit average. So Friday is the night for jazz?

.

Early reports are that was it was absolute shambles with the organisers making no preparations for the poor weather.

Friday - R&R after week of illness
Sat - Down to St. Albans to see friends, train into London Bridge and went to borough market for food tasting (Chorizo in Ciabatta with Pepper and Rocket........b e a utiful!) and then a couple of beers. Bought relevant food for evenings dinner party....went back cooked, drank, bed!
Sunday - Drove home, domestic bliss, golf range, dinner out and then in bed at an ungodly hour of 9pm 8O8O8O8O!

Now fully refreshed for a week of chaos at work!!

Hmm.... well, I've only been to one UK festival-like event (SW4) and was there when the skies opened up with torrential rain right about 8pm.

That, plus anecdotal evidence from other festivals, leads me to believe that someone's got their hands on the spigot just waiting to douse young revellers enjoying music of any kind in an open field in the United Kingdom

Another mudbath?

We obviously picked the wrong night (a Thursday) for this place because we thought the rock band was a bit average. So Friday is the night for jazz?

tuesday is world music
thursday is rock and blues
friday is reggae
saturday is the night for jazz.

(that's why i went this saturday)

i must say that we are really impressed with the live music on offer now in san an. with villa mercedes, island bar, cafe babel, es verro/don quijote es canto et al (plus el cafe del jazz in the bay) there really is a good selection of differing musical styles available.

really?! i toyed with going, but turned the ticket down in the end as the missus has just got back from hols & needed to spend time with her ;) schandfreud?

For me friday was a nice one, dad is away so me ma came to manchester & we went up the cloud 23 bar (23rd floor with un believable views of the whol enorth west it seems, to londonites this may be a drop in the ocean, to mancunians its a very big deal!). Wonderful views, however completely soulless - but it is a hotel bar ultimately so expected nothing more. Cocktails & mixed drinks 8 quid a pop8O & then you get the bill & that bar cost excludes vat!:spank: thats a new trick...

& then to the newly opened gourmet burger kitchen - fantastic.

saturday out in chorlton, food at marmalade & then back to mates house for post drinks. Mate who knows the promoter insists that 2 many djs are playing electric chair, given his inside info we take his word - albeit thinking what an amazing coup for an under ground night. turn up, its a night called 'too many djs' - consider ringing trading standards, let them off. music ok but typical elctric chair, i.e just not banging enough, too much twiddly going nowhere jazz effects. all round good night.

sunday. felt sad, read papers.

I was at global and had one of the best weekends ever all these mongs complaing about the conditons clearly have no idea how to handle a festival. They must of known that it would of been wet and muddy especially after the weather we've had these past 2 months:roll:the weather was perfect up until david guetta came on.Does he do anthing good. The crowd started booing him:lol:Yes the ques to get IN were bit of a joke (3hrs for me) and 2hrs to to get out the car park (2 rows of cars to get out of one exit ,nice one global:roll:)

Highlights were zabiela and fancuilli, pvd' and seb and angello the circo loco stage was good but stupidly tucked away in a corner and far too small, did anyone else know it was there because must of been no more than 30 people there saturday night, anywayit's what you make it and if you can't you need to be having words with yourself.

Friday - Got a case of Stella in the new apartment with flatmate, some of his mates came around about 3am after being out clubbing, i eventually fell asleep on the sofa around 6am after drinking most of the case of Stella:oops:8O

Saturday - Nasty hangover but dragged myself out of bed and met the lads, our local team Bohs were playing Sunderland in a pre season friendly but i cant be dealing with paying 27 quid for a pre season friendly so stayed in the pu8b and watched it on TV, they beat us 1-0, sh**e ,match anyway.

VIP as usual in www.tripod.ie with flatmate on Saturday nite, good nite, ended up back in some party in North Co Dublin getting up to all sorts of mischief:twisted: left there the worse for wear around 9am, taxi home.

Sunday - Nothing, hungover all day.
