Weekend Reports

Friday - went out with Sar and Tom for a meal at Randall and Aubin in Soho. highly recommend this restaurant. It's mostly a fish place, but they do other meals aswell. You can't book a table, you just have to queue up outside (dont get there too late otherwise you'll be queueing for hours!) which isn't so bad as you can still drink outside :)
Had the best seabass EVER with loads of side orders, starters, puddings, wine. It was a really lovely meal and I'd definately go there again.
Few drinks afterwards and lots of jokes about BRITISH SEX

Saturday - woke up slightly hungover, cleaned the flat and bought food/drink in for our first ever dinner party :) The gang came over about 7ish, we got merrily drunk and ate lots, then made our way to Canvas for Body and Soul.
Now I'm not a US house fan myself, I kinda missed that era being born in the 80's  but I was going on good recommendations that this night was not to be missed.
True, it was good in some parts... it was more like a house party than a club, they had some crazy dancers, the crowd was really up for it and there was a good vibe all round. the music was very... weird :? The three dj's all played totally different styles, so one minute you could be dancing to a deep techno tune, the next someone would mix in "aint no mountain high enough" :? so it certainly kept us on our toes all night.
It wasn't my choice of night but I'm glad I went. I had a really good laugh up until about 4am, then I got tired (it was very hot in there) and a bit bored. Some of the music was a bit same-old same -old, it didnt really change that much. I like my music to take me on a journey! :p

Left at about 5.30am, back to mine for a cup of tea and bed, so very tame!

Sunday - mooched around all day doing nothing. That's it

i'd been suffering all week with a stubborn cold, so had all the best intentions to have a nice relaxing weekend, taking it easy with plenty of vitamin c. what really happened was we ended up accidentally having a bit of a house party, staying up far too late and overindulging in all the sorts of things you should steer clear of when feeling poorly. great night - totally cheered me up after a rubbish week. spent the rest of the weekend mooching around going for lunch and drinks and beautifying myself. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D/10

Just got back from the almighty rave up that is Exit in Serbia.

Thursday: Robert Plant, Prodigy (almighty crush in which someone died):cry::cry: Bit of Deepchild , Trentmoller live (AMAZING), Green Velvet, Richie Hawtin

Friday: Serge Santiago, 2020 Soundsystem Live (IF YOU GET THE CHANCE, SEE THEM... IMO THE BEST PART OF THE FEST), Paul Woolford, Danny Tenaglia playing not the best set I've heard, and Fanciulli finishing off in style

Sat: Basement Jaxx late after the racist Lauren Hill was late in true diva fashion. Then went to see Bez from happy mondays fame to find that his dj set consists of him shouting over the mike whilst someone else djs. Shouldn't have been surprised really! Justin Martin, Roger Sanchez, then a chilling on a hill listening to some soooothing Drum and Bass as the sun came up.

Sunday: We skipped the festival after a morning, afternoon, evening and night of excess and debauchery :spank:

Overall the whole thing was amazing, but there were a few beered up fighty Serbs. (at one point there was a 15 man brawl in the middle of the dance stage) Recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Had a quiet one on Friday, stayed in watched telly & ate lots of crap!
Saturday we took the dog to the Carnival, which was really just an excuse to go out for lunch! Got the bus to London about 5.30, had a few drinks before heading to Canvas for Body & Soul. Had an AMAZING night. Loved the music, Danny Krivit is god, he could easily be the next Mr Sez - sorry Matt!! Danced nearly all night, only stopping when I got seriously hot. We left about 5.45 to get the awful rave bus home.
Sunday got up about 2, in the pub for 3, drank my body weight in wine & stumbled home about 12.30! Luckily for me I've got the week off. All in all a great weekend.
Barbie - it was really lovely to meet you, you're a sweetie!

Can you expand on the bolded bits mate?

Mornin'

On the first day one of the entrance gates was rushed by a load of ticketless types and they broke the fence down. A girl I know was in the crowd that stormed it, obviously she had a ticket but was swept in with the melle.

Prodigy: We saw a bit of the Progidy but after about 3 tracks it became too much to bear so we make our exit. As we were leaving, so many more people were trying to flood in to the already cramped space. And I heard a couple of days later when we were chatting to some peeps that one girl was trampled on to death. Not seen news verification but having been in the the carnage I can easily believe it.

Lauren Hill. I may have to issue a formal apology to Lauren Hill, it turns out this is a rumour. A good friend (and who I thought had the wisest music head on the planet) told me this as gospel. Apologies Miss Hill, Diva you may be, rascist you are not!

Fighting: Whilst Roger S was on, there was a big group of meatheads all having a massive brawl dont know how it started. It was right at the front and there were 4 security guards watching over the barrier too scared to jump in. In all fairness if you'd seen the size of a couple of them you'd understand why. One guy in our apartment block got turned over for spilling beer on someone, also my friend saw another at a beer tent. Why can't we all just get along!!!

Exit was nothing short of awesome!:D

I don't think I will ever dance in as good a setting, with the sun rising, as I did this weekend. Just four and a half days of solid beers (PIVO!!!) and dancing, in great company and in a simply unbelievable venue.

Yes, it was scorchingly hot , though if anything that made us sleep during the day more, and made us appreciate each nights entertainment even more (i.e. it stopped 3 day long aftershows*, so we gave it our all every night 8))

Musically was everything I expected, and more. Paul Woolfoord shocking me out of my skin by tearing up the dance bit (no, really!), and was well pleased we only went to see him as he was on before Danny T, and we wanted to pick our spot. Danny T then smashed it (he will never do wrong in my eyes, so maybe not the fairest of critiques!).

To be honest, due to where we were, we spent so long with jaws on the floor amazed at the place we were, and then he started dropping a few personal bombs (Losing My Religion, Bostich etc) that were so special, it was like he was playing for a special somone in the crowd ;). Green Velvet was also awesome (especially after the "yeah all very nice, though it doesn't exactly make me want to dance" Trentemoller show) and had 30,000 people screaming along to La La Land.

The latter hours of the mornings was spent roilling around (and trying to stay upright ) on a near vertical dusty bank which I don't think will be able to vocabularise how entertaining it really was!

And this was all done from the base camp of our tents.

Roll on next year I say...;):D

*no that there's anything wrong with 3 day aftershows ;)

I thought he was great at We Love this year too... massive improvement over last year.

Pivo = Life, my friend :D

Might have to check this out next year...
