Did you hit those roadworks at all at Porthmadog in the last few weeks? Was absolute hell when we went through them 10 days agoIf anyone remembers I started a job at an admin reception job GP Surgery at the beginning of the year. Well, needless to say it was shit and i lasted 5 months; I think I was clinically fed up as a result of working there. I did mornings 5.5 hours full on receptionist/phone constantly with no let up. Didn’t help that the training was really poor and they seem to be relying on my experience of dealing with public in my last job (which i did for 30 years incidentally). 50% of Patients were an absolute nightmare and a constant drain on the NHS, I just couldn’t take it any longer. My weekend alcohol intake had massively increased which i’ve got a grip of now.
For past two weeks i’ve been back labouring/driving for the family business on a zero hours contract, but it has been full time this week. No stress or dickheads, just honest hard work.
Anyway, going away to the caravan this evening when the A55 clears, plenty of dog walks, BBQs and £7 beers, maybe even the beach if shit for brains behaves himself.

Side note, AI is gonna blow up in many companies faces. They equate "understanding" spoken languages as "intelligent". But its not. There's no jobs at all here. Life was so cushy and then AI screwed everything. Blew all the redundancy too. I do various remote bits but it's not enough. I know the credit cards outsource debt collection to overseas teams, but hard to know how far they can really track you (eg at borders?)
thankfully we go the other way but it’s always a case of running the gauntlet with no hard shoulder for milesDid you hit those roadworks at all at Porthmadog in the last few weeks? Was absolute hell when we went through them 10 days ago
i’m fortunate to an extent as i have other income, but it’s not enough to live on. So i need a job but the stuff that’s out there is shite/not what i’m after (think Supermarket delivery, Barista, Cleaner…..)i’m very glad of work through my brother in law but it’s only temporary whilst they are busy over summer. There's no jobs at all here. No one suggesting selling used undies yet? Here are a few income suggestions people have sent me recently
- sell an organ
- do medical trials, radioactive experiments, drink nothing but Sunny D for 3 days etc
- use the spare room as a holiday pet storage unit
- drive a tuk tuk (actually did apply twice but zero response…)
- set up a ‘ghost kitchen’ selling pies to expats
- become a Port Aventura cast member
- lead medieval tours dressed as a court jester
- put feet pix up on onlyfans. (Feet fetishists are a thing, it seems)
- write self-help books aimed at other middle-aged calamities
- ask searching questions “am I in Peru mule territory, yet?”

Just so you know, S&D start at 7 and last entry is at 7.30, so you might want to watch it somewhere in town as kick off is at 5.Thanks for the info. Agree, Wiper & True is a nice taproom.

You been to Quarry Bank Mill in Styal before? Aside from the Mill, massive gardens, very well maintained Styal woods, loads of trails along the River Bollin, a trail that takes you into Wilmslow Carrs park and has big kids play area, and routes right along Manc airport if in to Plane watching. Cafe inside i believe but definitely a nice pub in the Village right next door to the Mill.Relatively quiet weekend compared to lastHad a very stressful week at work, project delivered. I don't usually deserve a weekend but did this week.
Fri - met my wife and lad in the local. Him getting stuck in the trees is a weekly occurrence. This week, before I arrived, a branch had snapped leaving him dangling from the legs - a woman had to climb the tree to grab his legs and the chef (in crocs) had to climb to get him whilst my wife and gang prepared to catch him.... cried when he was banned from the tree 'but i have memories with that tree'
Sat - York Races, 9am start, English leg of a stag do. In the bit where you have to wear a blazer, in this weathernot a betting person but should be a good day
Sun - heading to an estate or big house, take lad's bike and dog, pray for a good cafe and Sunday lunch. Thinking Lyme Hall
