YesThe love/hate bit?
I think it's an interesting subject Stivi.
Ive had some long periods off it in 2024 too, I also did Dry Jan this year until 30th until we went to Lanzarote.
I do feel absolutely fantastic when I not on the booze, I completely abstain from ANY alcohol and have normally combined with Fasted Keto or other restricted food intake along with Gym and regular exercise.
But, Im true example of an all or nothing type of person. I can manage the no booze, which in turn also leads to a lot healthier lifestyle but I can't just say have 2 pints on a Friday and thats it. Hence this weekend Ive been out Friday, Saturday and had wine on Sunday afternoon - maybe 30 units of alcohol, and previous weekend was even worse. It's not sustainable and im proper binging, I'm not rolling around drunk but it affects my energy levels massively the next day. It's definitely an age thing.
And @jimmiz I think we are very similar when it comes to our outlook; I have a love hate relationship with it.
Like @The Sun God points out, there's always something going on that tempts you towards the honey pot.
I'm out again this weekend but I'm looking now at points when I can stop for a bit.
Poor you. I am lucky - I have a habit to stop drinking when I am feeling great, without getting unwell first. I just switch to Diet Coke - there will be always the next drinking opportunity! But, Im true example of an all or nothing type of person. im just up and down on the virtual graphPoor you. I am lucky - I have a habit to stop drinking when I am feeling great, without getting unwell first. I just switch to Diet Coke - there will be always the next drinking opportunity!
The only exception are a couple of airport lounges with good free cocktail bars - but even in such cases, I feel well at the end, it's just that shaky picture in front of my eyes and me telling the flight attendant I am too drunk to sit at an emergency exit with a silly smile
I never do dry months, but dry weeks happen naturally to me.
we didn’t drink for 10 months of 2022, but in fairness it was the tail end of Covid so wasn’t that testing on the will power with no/few events to attend.I'm also in the midst of a love-hate relationship with booze. I had plenty over Christmas to the point I was looking forward to a break.
I did "damp" January whereby I only drank on 4 occasions and never more than 4 pints. Then February came and I wanted to keep it going so I didn't drink until my birthday (this weekend just gone). So for the first time this year I drank on consecutive nights and yesterday I just felt so sluggish and grim.
I'm too am out again this weekend but looking at when I can next stop for a bit, and I'm worrying about a 7 week period over May-June where I've something on every weekend, including a 3 night stag do, mate's 30th and 5 nights in Ibiza. But at least i'll feel good in Ibiza!
And how did you feel after 10 months?we didn’t drink for 10 months of 2022, but in fairness it was the tail end of Covid so wasn’t that testing on the will power with no/few events to attend.
