Weeellllll seeing as nobody else has started this I thought I might aswell :)

Friday - leaving work at 5.30pm then driving to Gatwick, getting drunk on BA flight to Ibiza :D Arrive at 2am, wake Sarah and Tom up  and catch a few hours sleep before...

Saturday - Matinee at Space, followed by Bora Bora 8)

Sunday - We Love Sundays @ Space for Tom's 30th birthday shenanigans!

Monday - day on beach, then Cocoon closing at Amnesia

Tuesday - another day on the beach, dinner in the evening then fly home early Wed morning.

Bring it on

Barely beat me to it, Becs! :p

Thursday - Arrive in "the other Big Apple", Almaty, Kazakhstan, on the red eye. Take a little nap. Go for a long walkabout to see how the place looks after 6 years.

Friday - Accompany my friend James as he goes to his future in-laws house to "steal" his bride. Early afternoon ceremony followed by the traditional driving around town to take pictures and lay flowers on various monuments. Then evening reception.

Saturday - Reserved a table on the rooftop terrace of a brewpub to meet up with all the old friends. That to be followed by a night hitting all the newest nightclubs in town.

Sunday - Probably another walkabout, dinner with relatives, watch Chelsea v Man U

Monday - Fly back to Moscow

:D

hope your planting trees to be carbon neutral!

Random factoid: before they moved the capital to Astana in 1998, Almaty was the most tree-filled capital in the world!

Response: I'm in the camp with people who believe that, once we've killed ourselves off living as we do, the Earth will renew and revitalize itself and new species will grow and prosper. So, no, no attempts to be carbon neutral. I'm trying to build up some frequent flyer miles and get some free trips!

no plans apart from treat the garden fence with some painty stuff to stop it getting ruined in the winter months..... Dull Dull!!!!

Sat/Sun: Research!!! I need to plan Phil's 40th..... he's not a big one for birthdays and the like - that's me, me me, so I want to take him away for a 3 night/4 day day break somewhere -

Thinking along the lines of.....

Barcelona
Madrid
Amsterdam
Valencia
Paris
Iceland
Budapest
Moscow - John - is this feasible for a 3 night break? how long does it take to fly from the UK? More to the point how fekkin cold will it be in February - I am imagining -30 or something (or is that me being dramatic..:oops:)

I am open to suggestions too if any of you well travelled peeps have any sensible ideas..... :D

It's 3.5 - 4 hours. Not a long flight at all, really.

Early February is typically the coldest time of the year. It was -30 C for half the month last year. This year was especially mild and stayed around -5 C on average so no big deal. Hard to say how it will be next year but that's not usually the time of year I advise people to visit

3-day weekend is very doable. Kremlin, Red Sq, Dead Lenin, Pushkin museum, a stroll down the Arbat for souvenirs, a couple of very nice meals out, and bit of partying.

Mmm I'm sure Phil would be reeeally pleased at being taken to a -30degrees holiday destination

Maybe Barca / Madrid is a better idea Pups!

:lol::lol::lol: Never mind him - its me I am worried about - I am going to have to wear a friggin skiing outfit - I really hate the cold!!! Thanks John but you have confirmed my fears...... See you around August instead????

Becs - I reckon Barca do you think it will be a tad warmer than Moscow???

Anyone - is Las Ramblas the place to stay??? Surely there are other spots in Barca which are just as good to be situated...

We stayed in the Banys Oriental last time, to the southeast of Las Ramblas in the direction of Barcelonetta (but still north of there). We really liked the place. Recommended 8)

Re: Barca hotels:

H10 Montcada was great when we stayed there in July, great location and fab rooftop bar with views over the city.

However, I also saw the banys Oriental around the corner and it looked very good too!

I am freezing normally in England in February... it can't even bear thinking about how cold it will be in Moscow EEEK! 8O:lol:

It does look amazing and I definately want to visit Moscow, unfortunately my summers seem to be permanently booked up :spank:

Pups - I have heard Barca is beautiful, it's definately on my list of places to go. But Madrid is also a good idea, slightly less touristy than Barca perhaps?

I love Madrid... better than Barca, to be honest (I hope Sil's not reading this today )

Barca has the coast, Gaudi, etc. but Madrid has the Prado (favorite gallery anywhere! I'm in tears every time I visit), palaces, gardens, and a vibrant pedestrian downtown area with nightlife.

well I know its Phils birthday but...........

I want to do LOTS of art galleries/museums/parks/monuments/historical places - I am a real culture vulture when I get to cities... so Madrid also is a possibility....

I just want (sorry Phil wants:oops::oops:) to get as much out of a 4 day visit as he can really - keep em coming guys (then I can blame you if it all goes tits up and I have to say "well xxxxxxxx off Spotlight said it was THE place to go!!!"
