Weekend Plans

But there is something uplifting (and i dont mean to patronise) to see thousands lining the streets to support pride whilst the protesters just get laughed at.
That's what I loved about EuroPride in Madrid this past June. Millions (well, estimated 2 million) of people on the streets in support of the parade, the parties and other events, many of them straight and representing every age group.

How far has society come in just our lifetime? Amazing when you think about it. A far cry from the last Pride event I attended in Washington, DC a decade ago, which was pretty much localized to the gay community.

I compare that with the struggle for equal rights for Blacks (specifically in the US), which took a century and then some. Of course, we don't have Black Pride marches (and I wouldn't go anyway ). Unfortunately we do get nutters like Louis Farrakhan organizing the occasional big event.

Tomorrow, a day of beer & rugby & planning my outfit for a friends float at Manchester pride. Current favourite is with my mate as Rambo & Rocky. Despite being an imposter to a degree, last years pride was my social highlight of the year, ten deep crowds cheering me on & the god squad/BNP (strange they should have so much in common?) protesting against me. I felt like a force for the good!

Then watch england hopefully beat france. Need to check the football schedules first tho to check no clashes as it’s a huge match for Liverpool.

Morbyd, 2.1 to LFC mark my words;)

Sunday, chill out, tidy house, start revising for my association of project management qualification.
Footie is on Sunday. And yes, we will kick your ass :p

Very jealous about you getting to ride in the parade!

Aaah but the London effort is dire compared to the likes of Madrid and Sydney etc. ;)

You really can't compare the two!

Brighton is much better.

Fri - Golf Lesson, Order of Service cards for the wedding and then crash.

Sat - Gym, Lunch with our cake maker to finalise decor for it, domestic bliss, wife to be goingto London with her bridesmaids for fine dress fittiungs and wedding talk (more like numerous bottles of wine and a club!). I have my best man coming up from london for a few drinks and speech preparing along with another close friend coming from Leeds so it could end up a long and messy night.

Sun - Run in the morning, watch the derby in the afternoon with a Man City friend of mine, back home for R&R.

Fri - Drinks with my Dad and pals, probably end up in local ritzy (not still with Dad!)

Sat - Studying, then go and purchase a load of golf gear (golf = new house)and maybe squeeze a round in...

Eve - Going for a meal and drinks in Notting Hill (scouting it out for next weeks carnage!) then off to see the (premier of?) film Godfather of House, which is a dramatisation of Mel Cherens life (or something? Either way, it's all about Disco, New York and gays ).

After that might head up to Fabric (Ame), Turnmills (Todd Terry - unlikely in fairness), or Ministry (monsieur Vega), depending on what victims I can get on board!:D (but  as still nothing concrete)

Sunday - Studying and hopefully more golf :D
