Weekend plans

:D I love the people that love London....I´ve spoken to other friends and they are like..."ooo, Londons great but only for a visit, dont live there!"

It was only a flying visit...I stayed with a friend in Fulham, hes a Londoner, we spent the whole weekend walking around, seeing some sites, visiting museums, ice-skating, shopping (totally freaked out in Cath Kidston!!!), eating and drinking....I had the best weekend Ive had in years (doesnt say much does it?!:? ) Anyway, I just saw the place really differently, I completely fell in love with the place, the people and completely missed my REAL friends.....

Oh, what to do, what to do...... .....I am actually SERIOUSLY considering it which is super scary!

Sounds like an amazing wkend :D What I love so much about London is that you could probably go out every wkend for the rest of your life and never have to do the same thing twice - there is always so much on and so many different things and once you know you way around it's not the tourist hell-hole that it might seem on first impression.

So have you got lots of friends who live in London?? Could you move here on a practical level (job/place to live/etc)??

I say go for it and give it a shot, what have you got to lose, you already like and know the place - when I first moved down here I was just going to give it a go for a year or so and see what happened and 7 and 1/2 years later I wouldn't live anywhere else in this country now.

Naah it's not, it's a simple adjustment that's all - you end up enjoying all the confusion.

Hatred of the public transport kicks in fully after the first year but apart from that there's nothing to whinge about.

I live next to Victoria park and the canal...so I'm closer to more green space than I ever was in Brighton - and the small remote farming village I grew up in for that matter.

Why do people live outside of London? Lake District/Cumbria I can understand I suppose - but that's for retirement.

(have I upset everyone yet?)

Basically, London rocks and everywhere else is dull, dull, dull.

It's Christmas day on Sunday! (Pilchard is off to Barcelona so we're having two)

Friday - Crap telly, wine & pizza ritual.

Saturday - Wrap presents, food shopping, that sort of thing.

Sunday - Wake up, have presents under tree, drink mulled wine, bicker , cook a Christmas dinner! :D ...Then off to see my absolute idol/guru Divine David aka David Hoyle in his Christmas play at the Reindeer theatre. Saw him last night too - am completely addicted to his mad philosophies.

Hi Rob!:D

Were all the aftershow recommendation posts deleted with Members? I remember seeing The Oak and raising you 'The Fringe'

There must be a few pubs around which could take over!! Surely there are one or two down Brixton way. The George IV used to kick everyone out around 6am and then open up again about 30 mins later. That could be close.

But it was always the added bonus of having Sunday morning flower and plant shoppers going about their business outside, completely oblivious to the carnage going on inside.

And the odd innocent plant shopper who stumbled into the Oak thinking he would be getting a quiet Sunday pint and being met with a scene of complete carnage

George IV is having a make-over at the moment. Not sure what's going to be the end result but it looks as though they are going to try to take what was once my nearest local dive upmarket. I've not been there for a while since it went totally driller hard house, though.

I havent been for a few years but it was completely driller hard house the few times I was there. Full of lots of undesirables too!
