Weekend plans...

It's true, I didn't make it up.
Just found this online.

CITY GEM
The Defectors Weld

when: Open daily
where: The Defectors Weld (170 Uxbridge Road, W12, 020.8749.0008) Tube: Shepherd's Bush map
price: Various
links: The Defectors Weld

Shepherd's Bush has long lacked a hangout for local hipsters — until now. The Defectors Weld gives them a pub with a dark but comfy feel similar to Camden's Lock Tavern. (Both are owned by Sara Cox and DJ Jon Carter.) Fortunately, the soundtrack is more Carter than Cox, as the music policy stipulates: "DJs generally not playing house music." Carter and DJ friends including the Filthy Dukes, Eat Your Own Ears and others make appearances at night (with a late license). On Sundays, a soul session accompanies the roast dinners. (JD)

Genuis 8) You've made my day  ;)

 I just tend to make things up

Let me know will you, it will mean Brownie points for me from Tom if I don't keep dragging him half way across London for a roast just cos we HAVE to go to one of Carter's establishments

Incidentally talking of roasts we want to the Red Lion a couple of weeks ago on your recommendation for a roast - mmmmmmmmm how good is their veggie roast :D Going back this Sunday for another one  ;)

We went last Sunday for one, it's a nice little pub in an old man kind of way.
We've lost many a sunday in there.

Yep I like it lots :D We got in there and it was so cosy and comfy (and it was wee-ing it down outside) so we stuffed ourselves with roasts and got on the Bloody Marys for a few hours and then went home for a little sleep, we're a right old married couple already

Just take your ear plugs for Marco V 8O I have never heard such a racket in my life as when I heard him play @ Cream 8O (or maybe I'm just getting old and can't get down with the kids anymore  )
I remember you wrote that about Cream. Here's the weird thing: I saw him in Moscow last winter and actually enjoyed it. Mind you, I really don't like trance... and I'm definitely not into the harder, louder stuff. But he played more of a progressive set than a bang-your-head-against-a-post-in-agony set.

Of course, I could have just been too drunk to notice   Alternatively, he might have played differently. No guarantee I'll be that lucky this time around though...

I always thought he played more of a progressive trance sound but it was bosh bosh bosh in Cream and when I spoke to people about it they said that's what he normally plays like - it scared me 8O

Join the club!
Dom even drinks his ale out of one of the jugs they have in there.
We need to redeem ourselves this weekend I think.

I must have gotten lucky then... maybe he was being careful in a new market. If he'd played bosh bosh bosh I would have bailed. My legs don't move fast enough to dance like that anymore

I just hope Guetta doesn't decide he's gotten to play harder as a result of being paired with Marco :?

marco V can play very different styles! two years ago he brought out a 3cd-compilation "combi:nations". cd1 is pure proggy stuff (and not the harder!), begins very chilled with "F.E.A.R" and then gets groovy...with "the push" for example. a very nice cd, just gave it a listen last night! cd2 is trancey, more upfront stuff from that time. and cd3 is what barbie is talking about. bosh bosh bosh hardtrance to techno music, very fast.

i heard that this summer, he played a mixture between hard bouncey house and trance stuff at amnesia.

all in all, i guess his sets aren't too predictable...you may get nice proggy sounds, you might get hard beats...be surprised ;)

That explains it then - I knew I'd seen him before and he was quite uplifting trance - it surprised me more at Cream that he started boshing out hard house cos he played after Above and Beyond and before Oakie.

I'm so happy it's made my day - I go Carter stalking just down the road  We should go for a Sunday lunch there - me, Tom, you and Tamsyn ;)

Sarah, I thought you knew about this place. I'm sure I've talked to you about it before. It's walking distance for us and is always really busy. I really like it ;)

The Chilled Eskimo. I think someone from Holly Oaks owns it. Only opens when it feels like it.
