Wedding Choices

yeah it would be private just for you. the only problem would be they require a minimum number of 40 or 50 or 60........can't remember, so you'd be paying for something you didn't need.

however, this may still be a better option if you like the place and you can cover the minimum cost.

I see. We could invite more people if we have to pay for so many anyway! Do you have any pictures that you wouldnt mind sharing?

Would they be ok with us having our own music?

The problem we have is the language barrier, me and pauly can speak pigeon spanish, so would have no idea how to sort things out like flowers and stuff, plus we wouldnt know if we were being ripped off 8O I quite like the idea of someone doing all the legwork for you  thank you tho.

The thing we're struggling with at the mo is finding a secluded beach to get married on where we dont have to eat at the restaurants on there. I know we wont have it completely private, but I dont want loads of people watching!!!

The photographer we used is English, but lived in ibiza her whole life, and she is amazing, very arty. The trouble with hiring someone is they are soooo expensive !!! And our florist spoke decent english, and she was fantastic !!

Have you looked at Cala Gracioneta nr San antonio? Its one of my Favourite calas, so pretty, it would be pretty much private there. And i believe the Bar/restaurant there (el chiringito) doesnt own the right to the beach so you wouldnt have to eat there (its only tiny anyway), but they could servrve canapes and drinks ??!!

I know I didnt get married in Ibiza, it was Hawaii but a word of warning.

We stipulated somewhere quiet, tranquil, green and private at sunset for our wedding, when we got to Oahu 2 days before our wedding, we met up with the planner and when she showed us the area she had planned for our wedding we were like 8O 8O 8O 8O .

She had an area of a public park, next to a municiple BBQ area, near a marine volleyball court and complete with a couple of tramps sleeping under nearby trees....

We went balistic with her and said which part of the above spec did she not understand? Ended up telling that the wedding would be cancelled if she didnt get her finger out and find something in Hawaii that fitted our spec.... we drove round for hours and every place she picked out was basically public - it was really hard to find anywhere with no other people around.

In the end we were driving through Diamond Head (nice area) and I said to her "do you know anyone up here with a garden who might let us marry there, as it happened, she did so we went and asked and the owner said yes...

So, our wedding was everything we wanted, and our witness was the little old lady who owned the house, who was in bed after a hip op in her hospital bed, watching our wedding from her bedroom with the french doors open....

Totally brilliant, she got her gardener in before we got there who tidied up the garden, cut back the bushes and laid a rose petal heart for us to stand in - totally gorgeous and we were overwhelmed by her generousity, considering she would take no money for this - but she did accept a bottle of black label smirnoff (which we found out was her favourite tipple....)

I'll post some photos when I get time.....

i understand sil's point of view but still it seems just so wrong to me that you'd have an actor. If it just a blessing then anytype of spiritual person would be better or even to be a bit original..........someone you know.:D

It's wrong to me aswell, but I'm not talking about an actor doing the priest role, I'm talking about an actor doing the civil wedding. It's first time I've heard about actors doing the blessing

It is seeming very difficult to get married on a beach :?

Beaches are public, you can't expect to close them for your wedding;)

Would you mind showing me some of your pics? :) Maybe we could sort a lot of stuff out ourselves then! :D

Ive just looked at that cala and youre right its gorgeous :) I think we have been there before last year sometime when we were driving around the island. It looks ideal actually spesh if you say they dont own the beach, but I do like the idea of canapes and drinks! :D I also found this website
http://www.ibiza-online.com/BungalowsGracioneta/index_en.html which could be really cool :D

Thank you :D

nuevo-traditional catalan/NZ cuisine fusion is??? :?:

The definition it's a bit confusing, Nuevo - Traditional are antagonic words and I don't know what's NZ cuisin,
But you can expect delicious mediterranean food. Google Catalan Cuisine and you may find some ideas

Thank you :D

When i said "hiring" someone i meant to organise it , not the actual photographer/florist.

Sorry i cant show you the pics as we went traditional and had film not digital, but you can look at the photographers website www.gypsywestwood.com
you can get a feel on there for what she's like. We thought she was amazing and she's also really lovely.

The good thing about Gracioneta is that in May it wont be busy at all (except bank holiday). I love this beach, it is stunning (altho hard to find). If you want any more info pm me !! Good luck !!!

sorry sil its just me waffling on.

the man who owns the restaurant with his wife is from New Zealand, so they cook the meat in a special way (Hangi i think its called). the rest of the menu are mainly catalan dishes. there is a menu on the website.

Would they be ok with us having our own music?

thats what we did..........just invited a load of people we knew from working out there who were still on the island working. worked just fine.

ain't got any digital pics sorry or the technology to get them digitalised!:? the website has some good shots to give you an idea

http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/cantruy

you can have whatever music you like..........we managed to blag for 30 mins a rather well known but not liked by all superstar dj who played our first wedding dance song.

you can do what you like tho, just put your own CDs on, get a DJ, jukebox, karoake, band, singer, etc, etc

Aww cheers everyone :D thanks for all your advice. Puppylover you look gorgeous, your hair is an amazing colour :D

Ive just had an amazing conversation with a friend of mine and he just told me a mate of his owns a villa on cala gracio, so hes going to find out about it for me!!! That would be so cool 8)

Weloveliam I will pm you for more details as soon as I get a chance, that photographer looks ace :D

Grego Im intrigued, who was the DJ and what was your first tune? ;)

tbh, we were a little sceptical when we were told the cost of the photographer.....a few hundred quid i think. Cos we weren't really after anything particular snazzy, just something to remember the day by. but it was easily worth the c.£300 we paid. perfect representation.:D 8)

I'm not saying who it is but the first tune was Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody8)

Which photographer did you use?

Pauys step dad is a semi professional photographer so hes going to be taking loads of pics, but we do want him to be in some lol so we are going to need a prof one too :D

Good tune choice ;) go on tell me who it was (or pm me lol  )

Oh right, I thought it was the same place that you mentioned? :?:

No, its Right next to Gracio. You have to ramble around the corner to get to Gracioneta. I see El chiringuito is listed as top 10 places to get married, you really should see it in the flesh its stunning. You will defo have to do an inspection trip before deciding.

Oh right, good job you told me lol! ;) ;) Yeah I deffo think another trip is needed before deciding  :D

The owners of the restaurant on Cala Gracionetta also own the bungalows, apartments and villa there.
Try googling it.
