We Love...Space ....so far

I'm not overly fussed who i see DJ at space. All the DJs listed are obviously rated enough to be allowed to grace the decks on the terrace. For me, i know that the terrace will be rocking more or less whoever is DJin.

Lawler is defo a certain king of space, the times he has seen more on the terrace he has certainly impressed!

This year i get Morillo, but no other big names, but for me, the spaces ressies know the crowd better than anyone and therefore know what will and won't work.

Long Live The Terrace!

hi markel

I'm really disappointed. Who are the famous superstar DJ from sunday@space in the terrace???

i don't think that's really what space is about. it is like the others say, the terrace is more about the atmosphere rather than who is playing. the space residents jon ulysses and tania vulcano are as good IMO as any of the guests. tom novy is absolutely brilliant on the terrace and he's certainly not one of the 'superstars'

green velvet are playing later in the summer anyway. groove armada are also doing 4 sets - and they are about the best you can get on the terrace.

i saw sarah main (young pacha resident) last sunday and she rocked it!!

you'll often find the most unlikely djs doing the best sets on the terrace - i heard sasha two years ago which was great but odd for the terrace as he played quite hard - took a while to get into it.

trust us that sunday afternoons will be mental at space - don't worry about the dj, just go for the freaky beautiful people and the vibes - unbeatable.

in fact if you want to get that 'real' space feeling with room to dance and a completely unpretentious crowd, go to one of the other mornings - la troya, manumission, matinee, etc.

space is about fun in the sun regardless of who's playing - i can guarantee you'll have a blinder!! :):):)

nothing personal meant, just trying to show the other side of the cake :)

<added> looks like everyone is jumping on you markel :) - i am sure no one means it, we are all just shocked at you dissing 'mecca' ;)

Totally agree James, some of my fave terrace sets have been less well-known DJs, I think sometimes you have less high expecations than if you're going to see the likes of Danny T or someone so when they blow you away, they really blow you away :D

I agree with James and Barbie....all the DJ's look the same to me anyway...  ...the cult of DJ gods has got out of hand...good tunes and good atmosphere is all I ask... :D :D

agreed

i remember a few years back, after the terrace shut, Zabiela (before he was as big as he is now) was on before Sasha

just after sasha took over there was a power cut and after some time getting power restored, Sasha was so pissed off that JZ took back the decks for the majority of the night and absolutely rocked the place!

proving that its not the dj name but how they approach playing at Space which is more important

something else to look for this year

with Steve Lawler playing a set on the terrace and a inside set too

i think we could see him going much more house orientated on the terrace
leaving most of his darker stuff for inside.

Does Eric Morillo play @ space on 11th july or on 18th july.

written @ club news on spotlight ist 18 an in the calendar :) in this thread morillo ist on the 11th @ space ;)

on the space website is written he plays on 18th july, in the calendar of the space website he plays on the 11th?

im rather confused :?: :?: :?: :?:

hopefully we plays there on 11th ;)

1) Lawler inside is freakin awesome. he is better in there than on the terrace IMHO, he plays a little too proggy for the terrace for me.

2) Maybe people 'remember' who was dj-ing when they were at space more if it is a big name? For me, no-one rocks the terrace more than Jon Ulysees but off the cuff, i'll always remember Erick or Danny T first as my all time fave space sets.

3) I do think that it's got something to do with the 50euros and 8euro water that makes you wish that there was a big 'name'. At least you can see where your money is going. Alex Neri played one of the finest two hours of music i've experienced, one sunday last year. He may be as good as Sacha, but he sure as hell don't charge as much.

having the 2 sets should mean a 'less-prog' terrace set this year

Rooty - what do they play? i'd imagine its a real mixed bag of stuff.

They are fab, saw them on terrace couple of years ago, they're proper partys DJs, will bring out loads of classics and a right mix of stuff which gets everyone dancing :D Their mixing might be a bit dubious at times but their tune selection is spot on :D

Space

YES, i FULLY agree!!! It's not always about the big names......you may get an unexpected treat from a lesser known dj (JZ). I've seen both Sasha and dare i say Oakenfold, and was not all that impressed (actually Oakey wasn't all that bad...just a little too Pure trance that night)......my favorite shows have even been from locals....

If i wanted to hear a bunch of no name residents, i could stay here in Sydney and party my ass off.

Most people go to Ibiza for the atmosphere granted, but to also hear the best DJ's going around. And while the residents are good DJ's in their own right, none of them can deliver like many of the big names.

some of the ressie djs are miles better than the "superstar djs". thats what i have noticed on some occaisons.

its all down to opinion, personally i goto ibiza to see all the big djs in one place, if i wanted to see residents, as said above, id stay at home and not get charged 40-50 euros for the privilege. but i would agree the residents are good, there just not the people who im paying my money to go to see.

B.ull.s.hit.

I hate this mentality.
Just because you have a big name it does not make you good. Fact.
