we Love Closing - Aphex Twin

Aphex Twin Best thing I have ever experienced in my entire life! (music wise). Did anyone else go and feel the same? I hate the discoteca but when A.T. is in the room the place turns into paradise on acid. Intense, twisted, F'd up, mental, amazing, dark euphoria are some of the many words I have used to describe how totally awesome those couple of hours were

We were in the terraza before Aphex Twin came on right down the front.. not sure who was playing but they were good whoever! I'm officially obsessed with aphex Twin now though he's blown everyone I've ever seen in my life totally out of the water! Is he there every year cos I noticed videos from last year? Does he do normal we love parties do u know?

He was there last year but it was truly impossible to listen to. Mostly loud screeching noises when I wandered in - main reason I avoided it this year! Sure hope it was better this time around.

Aphex Twin played ****ing hard ,dark, deep and twisted . Loved it but could not help feel it did not really suit space specially after zabs who someone described to me as that blond dude lol. English people not knowing one of their own haha .

Last year was his first appearance - I shudder to think of the amount of money that they are paying him for this

lol. Not sure they could afford more than 1 appearance a year. Sadly I have missed both of them!

seen Aphex Twin @ Sonar festival in barcelona this year...amazing, best thing i've seen live, my mate was at the legendary daft punk @ rock ness show...he said aphex twin was right up there with that.8)

got to Space for about 1.30am and saw Fatboy Slim, great set, but the place was VERY overcrowded, tried to find a room which had an inch of space to move in, but everywhere was rammed right to the rafters, so left at approx 3am, won't be going to a We Love again!

Ironic since the place is called Space ha

It was less crowded at We Love closing than it was for Carl Cox closing :!:

There was lots of space in the Discoteca (esp. in back and up front to the right of DJ) and traffic was flowing by the stairs to the Red Box whereas at Cox that area was one big logjam and there was barely space to be had anywhere.

True, the terrace was very full, although I found a spot over by the stairs to El Salon and had no problem.

It's all about knowing where to go or just taking a moment to think about traffic flow and what parts of the room people are less likely to cram into.

I've been seriously disappointed with We Love last couple of years but this one was top notch. If you left at 3 you missed great sets by 2ManyDJs and Jooris Voorn!

Was Voorn good then? What sort of stuff did he play? So gutted I missed him in Ibiza this year, he's playing at MoS at the end of Oct.

Voorn totally rocked it.

Hmm... What would you call that? Deep/Undeground/Tech House? Techno... somewhere in there. Top notch set. Great way to close out the night.

taking a moment to think about traffic flow

I was with Andy and I am not sure either of us were in a position to think about traffic flow!

I found it a lot worse than Carl Cox closing, which probably means I got a good spot for that and a really bad one for We Love. Sounds like we missed some good stuff as well.

We Love has been stupidly busy some Sunday's.... esp on the Terraza.

Without sounding too boring here, I think Space have totally coc_ked up the new design of the Terraza. Making the whole of the front on a second tier has totally blocked traffic flow as you come in from the Sunset Terrace exntrance.

A few years ago the problem with the Terraza was that the space was too big, and looked empty sometimes, so maybe that's why they did it...... and on nights like Kehakuma, the new design does give it a more refined underground club feel.

However, in my opinion, it needs to go back a few feet to give more main room space.

we arrived at 4.30am and while it was very busy you could still find your own little space to dance. caught all of joris voorns set, really good

awesome.. yeah its hard to explain his style sometimes, it varies a lot through-out his sets. Can go from quite tough techno, to quite housey disco tracks in parts.

He's definitely been my favourite DJ this year
you've wetted my appetite for his next gig 8)

Mr Why, what do you mean the whole of the front of the Terrazza a 2nd tier? do you mean right in front of the DJ booth?

I saw there was some sort of podium there when I went, but it wasn't a 2nd tier?

Maybe i'm thinking of a different area

They put a podium in the middle which is mildly entertaining.

The raised section in the back of the room (front of the building) now goes all the way across to the wall that faces the sunset terrace. I think before this year it stopped a few meters shy.

No doubt 2manydj's & Joris Voorn rocked the place, i wanted to see those, but if I can't even move and getting pushed out of the way every 30 seconds I'd rather just leave, which i did.
5 out of 7 of us that were there said they'd rather leave too, including Hally above, even after paying €65 per ticket, i heard a lot of people saying they've never seen Space that busy before either.
But we all had a good laugh afterwards ;)

The terrace was the busiest i've seen it on 11th September this year when Groove Armada were playing. Nearly impossible to get from one side to the other. Well worth it to hear the original version of Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness :D
