Villas/Apts 2017

Ive used airbnb for one of my 2017 trips, is that bad? (genuine question)

It wasn't meant as a dig at those who have, it was more a response to the 9 reasons why you should book a licensed villa, as personally knowing it contributes to the problem is enough to put me off.

not just ibiza either - this is everywhere. AirBNB is bad news for neighbours, bad news for legitimate businesses and bad news for tourist sites that can't cope with the increasing numbers

...but then I can also see it from the point of view of someone who lets out their flat cos they're skint (ie half of Spain), and the point of view of punters sick of being ripped off by hotels

so what gives...?

For Spanish speakers - this article suggests it is a bit of a legal mess

Dude, I know that. I just honestly didn't realise there was an issue with airbnb and I feel a bit guilty now.

Aren't 80% of villas robbed during the season.o_O

I don't think the number is that high, but it's something to consider. and everyone from villa owners to agents has to raise awareness to make sure people aren't that careless. I've been invited to villas in the past where people were chilling round the pool or having BBQs with all of the house's doors and windows wide open and people not having a care in the world...

Villas sound great but if you have a few days of rain during your week holidays id rather be at hotel in a resort than stuck in a villa middle of nowhere with 12 peope
