Villa vs Hotel/Apartment?

Hey :)

Planning my trip to Ibiza next summer & just wondering what peoples experiences have been with renting villa's rather then staying in a Hotel/Apartments.
Where do you prefer to stay whilst you are in Ibiza, Villa or Hotel/Apartment?...

I prefer hotels and apartments simply for the fact that you have service at hand and are closeby to all the aminities.

When I go on holiday I like to stay as far away from a kitchen and self service as possible.

Problem with villas is that you have to cook and clean up by yourself and most require a car or transport to reach them as they are in country areas.

i only ever use hotels if i'm staying somewhere for only one or two nights or i'm travelling solo. otherwise we always use villas or private apartments because i like my comfort, convenience, privacy, peace and quiet plus i can take the dog. i like to have good cooking facilities, space to relax, freedom to do what i want when i want and keeping the place neat and tidy is a small price to pay for this.

As bez said i much prefer hotels and apartment..Some villas are so far from any aminities you be drink water from the pool by end of week...:D

I'd love to stay in a Villa, but most of the ones I've found in Ibiza are quite far away from any amenities. So will continue with apartments for now.

I'd highly recommend Tramuntana Apartments in San An. Close to the West End, close to Eden and Es Paradis, and the bus station, but far enough away so that you don't get too much of the noise. Stayed there this year, will be staying again.

Stayed in a villa between san antonio and san rafael just off the main road a couple of years ago. It was class although it does get a bit annoying that you need to travel to get the simpliest of things like water, food, etc

travelling to buy the basics is the case in most rural areas, even britain. however you can arrange to have items delivered by prior arrangement.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated :) Very valid points and I can definitely see the pro's & con's of both villa's & hotels/apartments!! Love the idea of the freedom you have whilst staying in a villa but not having resturants/bars/shops within walking distance puts me off a little as I normally stay in San An so am used to having all of these amenities near by... When I'm in Ibiza I obviously do travel to other parts of the island but when feeling a little worse for wear & lazy in the day I like having things close by!! Hmmmmm decisions, decisions!! :?

Casa Maria over the road is wayyyyy better. I stayed at the Tramuntana for 3 nights after my mate bollocksed up the booking for Casa Maria (by only booking one night, and by the time he realised, they only had 4 days left, so we had to move midweek across the road), and it was in late July in the middle of a heat wave, and it was ****ing unbearable without air con.

Never, ever, ever again.

Id stay in a grass hut if it had air conditioning...never again will i go to ibiza and stay a place without air conditioning...getting 5 hours of drunken sleep everynight in the mediterranean sun from 7-12 was horrible.

Villa all the way if I had the choice.
Secluded private pool, peace and tranquillity while watching the sun set over the sea from the roof top is bliss. Not getting woken up by nob heads shouting/screaming/fighting in the corridors or waking you up at 6am because you are in their ****ing room despite the fact they realise they are on the wrong floor. No dodgy muscle men glaring at you at the bar, and no fancy pretty people who are in Ibiza cause its cool ruining your mojo 8)
Our(I wish it was mine :D) villa we have booked for a second time is 5 min walk from supermarket, and a cafe and 15 min walk to beach side cafes for dinner. Only cooked pizza really got cabs to san an or clubs. Gonna hire a car in June and explore a bit more.
Nothing worse on a comedown then faces in a hotel, cant bear it

We payed for Aircon. We may consider Casa Maria next year as it looked pretty good. :)

Knobheads are Knobheads for a particular reason its got nothing to do with the amount of cash in their wallet.

When I've stayed in San An I've stayed in Ses Savines & The Arenal and luckily havent had anyone come knocking on my door and have always been able to have a nice peaceful sleep in my room when I have needed to :-)

I've heard many stories about this place.... Would you go back & stay there?

Only for a short period (e.g. a couple of days) due to the price, if I couldn't find anywhere else. There are much better places.

Where have you stayed?
