V Festival

It's anything but chilled!

Last time I was prancing around to acid techno at 4am before losing it on mushrooms, falling in a heap and shouting at the then-husband to shield me from the tree folk who were watching me from the surrounding hills.

It's just 30-something sophistication...but with a REALLY badly behaved twist!
The best kind really. ;)

No I def do plan to do The Big Chill one year, I just don't think I'm ready for it yet

Like Becki said, the scally factor doesn't compare to GG!

I don't mind funked scallies (a la dance festivals), I just don't like beer boy scallies (and you tend to get a higher number of them at V etc than dance festivals) - it's a different breed of scallies

The lineup just announced for anyone who's thinking of going:

Paul Weller
Keane
Radiohead
Morrisey
Ordinary Boys
Beautiful South
Orson
The Feelings
Magic Numbers
Faithless
The Charlatans
Beck
Fatboy Slim
Bloc Party
Kasabian

Poor, in my opinion

Not bad although a few notable absences.

The Editors
The Subways
Doves
Richard Ashcroft
Ian Brown or Stone Roses (this could be the year)
Jack Johnson
Royksopp
Embrace
New order
The Zutons

get these on the bill and you got yourself a festival ;)

word

the 'chill' stuie refers to the attitude not the music.

there are pretty much NO scallies or student types at BC
there's acid techno and a cocktail bar, norman jay and a farmers market for food, beardy folk and drum& bass. sensory overload of the highest order. IMHO

What date is it this year Russ?? It is on my list of things to do before I'm past it  I thought it might be a tad civillised for me at the moment but seeing what you and Robder have said I think i'd fit in a treat

After such a good start this morning Stuie! 8O

(It might be worth giving some thought to Brighton pride 06 because it's definately at it's best at the mo - it's quickly heading towards the Glasto 2000 phase where the council and police will soon be forced to introduce measures to scale it down...and the new addition of street parties on St James's St on the Saturday night were amazing last year! 8O 8) ...But having said that, the big chill is brilliant.)

People who I know who've been say it's really scally-ish and toe-raggish and it's very commercial, kind of like a Glastonbury for people who aren't cool enough to go to Glastonbury  Present company obviously excluded ;) They just said there was a much higher scally count than at places like Glastonbury or The Big Chill and the vibe wasn't as nice.

well fck me with a 7inch narrow boat

I think the beer swilling boys comments were probably right for last year because of the "oasis" effect and the reason I cashed in my tickets last year for another weekend in ibiza! the line up this year looks alright.

editors
kasabian
the charlatans
hard-fi
paul weller

are all musts for me!

it is a festival where they try and get something for everyone, I must say I do hate the camping side of it though!
