V Festival

Aren't they not doing Glastonbury this year though?

Growing up in the States (and listening to 75% British music) I've always wanted to attend one of these massive UK festivals (Lolapalooza, while great, wasn't the same...) The only thing is, now I'm a bit old to be rolling about in mud

So which is the best festival? The V line-up doesn't look bad at all...

Personally I wouldn't do V, just cos it's a bit of a scally toerag wannabe Glastonbury festival

Oh you big snob, I suppose you think you're moving up in the world with your pink smeg fridge.

I like scally toerags anyway.

What? Why?

People who I know who've been say it's really scally-ish and toe-raggish and it's very commercial, kind of like a Glastonbury for people who aren't cool enough to go to Glastonbury  Present company obviously excluded ;) They just said there was a much higher scally count than at places like Glastonbury or The Big Chill and the vibe wasn't as nice.

 If you really want to do a festival do a proper one like Glastonbury or The Big Chill.

No Glasto this year.

V will be the biggest festival with the most acts this year, there will be over 80 acts in 5 arenas. 2 different sites 60,000+ at each.

Glastonbury's not on this year is it? :? And I don't fancy The Big Chill. I'm a toerag Babs, let's face it.

Who do you know who's been apart from us Babs? It's a lot less scally than most of the festivals around, especially those Northern ones ;)

Bear in mind it's in Essex so a lot of the people who go are normally posh kids from the Home Counties and the South East! Yeah there are a few toerags about but nothing compared to the ones I've seen a Global Gathering in the Midlands!

When I went last year there was a really nice vibe, you felt safe walking between the tents at night, and everyone we met was really cool and friendly.

It probably is more commercial than Glastonbury or the Big Chill, but I dont profess to be a hardcore rocker so I like some of the more commercial acts!

Why dont you come and give it a go, we can put you in a big pink tent with princess turretts and everything if you want ;)

I don't agree with that at all and there is no Glastonbury this year and i don't want to chill! It is commercial (what festival isn't now?) but for the ticket price the amount you see over the weekend is excellent. It's a something for everyone festival.

I imagine it would be loads of fun...but the crowd will be a bit Homelands meets SW4 meets Phoenix won't it?

Student beer swillers a plenty!

Not that I'm a snob by any means!

I can't help it though...this is the sort of thing my flat mate would go to.
She's lovely but she has an Arsenal tattoo on her ankle. ;)

Loads of my friends from Tesco used to go cos it's theire area of the country, they didn't like it and there'd done lots of other festivals like us and they said I would hate it - just the whole commercial-ness of it, the toerags, loads of beer boys etc. You can tell it's Glastonbury's poor relation, where Glastonbury gets the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Moss and other a-list celebs, V gets the likes of Jade Goody and Charlotte Church  ;)

Tbh I doubt I'd do a camping festival again, I've not done Glastonbury for years cos it always clashes with Ibiza Openings and as much as Tom likes the idea of the Big Chill I don't think I'm cut out for chilling for a whole wkend

It depends where you are and what your watching... for example there wasn't many of the beer swillers in the B-Bar for Faith but on the main stage for GLC there were twats in abundance!

It's anything but chilled!

Last time I was prancing around to acid techno at 4am before losing it on mushrooms, falling in a heap and shouting at the then-husband to shield me from the tree folk who were watching me from the surrounding hills.

It's just 30-something sophistication...but with a REALLY badly behaved twist!
The best kind really. ;)

Don't knock it until you've tried it!

 Tbh I'm normally up for trying anything once (8O  ) but these are good friends who didn't like it and I trust their judgement and know I've got similar taste to them and they told me to avoid at all costs. Basically I'm a snob like Robder who doesn't want to be round lots of pikey scally beer boys  ;)
