I would vote the the reason is that Ushuaia just wants to make as much money as possible.
Nothing wrong with that at all but unless pressured by the misses who loves Armin, there is nothing worth going to Ushuaia that I can not find the better of somewhere else for less...
I've personally never liked Ushuaia as it just doesn't feel like a club at all. If you are into the music they choose and like to do the VIP thing, I guess its probably right up your alley. For me, while I don't mind paying top dollar for a top experience, Ushuaia does not offer anywhere near the experience they charge for.
Tiesto @ Privilege was worth it. - Production + vibe + crowd = experience
Solomun @ Sankeys was a bargain. - Cult-like atmosphere + spot on music selection + reasonable prices
Pete Tong @ Pacha was worth it. - Fun + an excellent music selection
Most nights @ Amnesia are worth it. - Amnesia really has the formula down and in my mind currently blows all other clubs away.
We Love @ Space is USUALLY worth it. - The line up is hit or miss but with such diversity of selection and such a good energy in the place, it's hard to go wrong...
Thankfully, paying too much does not bother me or stop me from having a good time so I have been to plenty of nights that were not, strictly speaking, 'worth' what I have paid and had a great time but that's life in Ibiza.
There is also something wrong about going to a 'club' in the day light. Going to a beach club is great but I simply can not get a proper 'rave' on till well after sunset. I suspect that's a fair bit off topic though.
I greatly respect what Ushuaia, Sankeys, Boom, and Gate Crasher are doing for the island. More venues with great music means better competition and a better experience overall for going to Ibiza.
Almost every night during my planned trip there are at least 2 venues with something that suits itself to my tastes. Not even just a year or two ago, I was almost forced to take a night or two off as there was simply nothing worth going to. For Ibiza as a whole, offering something to everyone every night is key to keeping the island I love so much competitive as a destination for which I am all for.
That said, I am glad Ushuaia is able to charge what they do for their events and wish them continued success but until they offer what I personally am looking for in a club, if will avoid the place unless provided with some alternative reason to go. Same as my Pacha policy really.
