Usher to perform at Ushuaia

Each to their own I 'spose - while I personally wouldn't go to see Usher, or flaxen haired producer of utter pap Guetta (or SHM these days for that matter) if they'd all moved in next door together and were having a free BBQ, with guaranteed tops and fingers with some lovely lassies - if you like that kind of thing, fair play.

At the end of the day, they're there because someone thinks there are people that want (and will pay) to see them and therefore there's a profit to be made (and looking at the success of FMIF and SHM, while unfathomable to me, there undoubtably is a market for it at the moment) - it will continue like that until these acts aren't bringing in the cash anymore, when something else will replace it (who know's, Gabba Techno @ Blue Marlin anyone??)

As with any business, it tries diversifying to maximise profit.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing?? Who knows - it's business, brings cash to the island and I have the option of either going to, or not going to that particular nights entertainment.

******THOUGHT OUT BALANCED REPLY ALERT*********

Just say its sh!te mate, its more fun like that ;)

interesting reading all the views.

Part of me says wtf is he doing in ibiza, but then the other part of me says well if Plan B are playing in Ibiza Rocks, they have as much to do with dance music as he does.

In the end I say live and let live. As long as his music doesn't creep into any of my nights at Space, DC-10 or Amnesia then I don't care

i understand the critics.

but i think it's fcukin amazing that Usher. ****ing USHER is playing in the relatively tiny resort of playa d'en bossa, next to zanzibar and the place where i play 5-a-side and where i sometimes go to the beach with my kids.
I was just thinking about this. I remember when I moved to Moscow and the first few years it was not very often that major (or even minor) international live acts I wanted to see came through town. Despite being the largest city in Europe, it just wasn't on many tour itineraries. That's changed, however, and as of the past 5-6 years a lot of acts include it on their tour schedule. I've gone to a lot of great shows.

Bringing it back to Ibiza - given the size of the market, it's generally not a place that's going to be on a lot of tour schedules. So for people resident on the island, Ibiza Rocks, Privilege Live, I Want My MTV @ Amnesia, and one-offs at places like Ushuaia will represent their only opportunity to see some top international live acts without traveling. How great it must be for them! :D

Snoop is a legend but cant imagine people over the age of 14 being excited about usher playing..Westlife in the piano bar now that would be a winner..

Bit unfair that Mr McR: Question asked was what do you think? My post said that I think Usher (in my subjective opinion) is a bit pooh BUT each to their own. I never said variety wasn't a good thing. Only that people who enjoyed it would keep going, and those that they wouldn't - this applies whether they are islanders, mainlanders or tourists.

Would I go and see U2 - no. I don't like their music.

Would I go and see a concert by the British Philamonic - no. It's not for me.

Would I go and see Usher - (see above)

Would I go and see Johnny Cash if he was reaminated and playing in Ibiza -absolutley.

Horses for courses (as usual)

very special guest DJ = david guetta :!::!::!:
