Anyone watching? Andre Agassi just took out Xavier Malisse in a great 5-set match. That man's an inspiration - still kicking butt at 35. 8)

Think her talent has rubbed off on him?

She was the greatest... weird how she retired. She could have gone on winning everything forever.

Something probably rubbed off on him  . She and Becker were always my favorites.

Little bit dissapointed now that nadal is out :(
But you have to be a little happy for the guy that beat him, James Blake. Over the past 1.5 years, he broke his neck, he had shingles which paralyzed half his face, and his father died of cancer. I'm happy to see him making a strong comeback. Last night, he beat Tommy Robredo too 8)

ohhh, didn't know. Ok if I Had to choose a non spanish winner it would be James Blake.

I'm torn between Agassi and Blake. Compelling reasons to want both of them to win.

On the women's side, I like so many of the players that it's hard to chose a favorite. I'd be happy to see Venus, Lindsay, Dementieva, or Sharapova win.

My favourite is Venus Williams.

Ooooh, im liking this thread!!

Blake played OUTSTANDING against Nadal, as much as I was upset Nadal lost, you had to praise the opponent. Dont think ive seen so many forehand winners in one game, how much power does the guy have??

If he played like that consistently, he'd be a top 5 player easy!! Blake also seemed like a nice guy, he often applauded Nadals good shots.

Only spanish player left is Verdasco, not holding my breath for that one.

Pah, who cares about hard courts anyway, its ALL about the clay ;)

AND IS NOT INCREDIBLE THAT THIS Gilles Muller beats Roddick and then in the next round he loosses, I did liked how he played but sometimes it's so strange.

Blake was rising steadily up until last year when everything went wrong for him. His weakness was always his errant backhand, which he appears to be getting under control.

I saw some of last night's match against Robredo and he was down a set and 2-5 and he was just fighting his way back. So much determination... wish I hadn't fallen asleep!

Blake is as nice a guy as he seems. Truly a good sport and, from what I've heard, universally liked on the tour.

an Venus now is out too :(
I know... so sad.

Tonight is Agassi vs. Blake. Sad because they're my two favorites and one of them has to go out early :(

A great final would be Blake vs. Lleyton Hewitt with Blake winning to get revenge for how Hewitt acted when he played Blake in the US Open a couple of years ago

I don't remember the story exactly but it was 2 or 3 years ago and Hewitt was just being his usual bad sportsman self. He might have said something nasty too... oh, I remember.. he said something about the linesman ruling in favor of Blake because the linesman was also black 8O

I dozed off last night watching the last set of Coria v. Ginepri. Very tense ending but 'well done' to Ginepri for rising above himself.

Mary Pierce also looked surprisingly strong in demolishing Mauresmo. I missed Demenieva v. Davenport but what I've read makes it look like that was a pretty poor match.

The ABSOLUTE MOST AMAZING TENNIS I have seen in a long time was when I woke up this morning to find James Blake ahead of Andre Agassi 2-1. The last two sets were so exciting... watching Andre battle his way back and James try to hold on to his advantage, neither of them slowing their game down a single bit. Blake had a chance to close out the fifth set and match but Agassi broke his serve, taking it to a fantastic tiebreak which Agassi won 8-6.

Afterwards, Blake stayed on court (unlike Coria, who ran to the locker room) and he gave an interview praising the match and Agassi, and Agassi did the same for Blake... what great sportsmen!!! That's what sports is supposed to be about. Watching that was a great way to start the day. :D
