United quartet head award nominees

everyone hates the diving/cheating thing but drogba is really a cut above the rest in that field.

a brick sh!thouse of a man that goes down paris hilton...............like on sat, when he was rolling around like he'd broken something and then proceeded to play for the rest of the game.................and extra time!

hate it when the likes of joey cole, gerrard, owen, etc do the same. in fact, any good/decent player who resorts to that sort of stuff.
Drogba's theatrics are frustrating even for his fans. I do think he gets a lot of physical abuse, due mainly to the way Chelsea play him, but he appears to have a very low threshold for pain.

To his credit, when Drogba goes down it's because there's contact. To his detriment, sometimes that contact appears (at least on TV) to not in any way in proportion to his rolling around afterwards.

Saturday wasn't play acting, though... he was a lot less mobile after he came down hard on that ankle. One newspaper reporter wrote that he saw Drogba (and Shevchenko :!:) seriously limping to the team bus after the match.

seriously limping??

as opposed to jovial limping??

cruciate??

I did mine a few years back, had 2 ops on it before going private 3 yrs ago and getting it done properly. good as new now :)
I had it looked at week before last (at a regional hospital in the Russian Far East, no less  Had some down time on my business trip). I'm told it's likely damage to the meniscus. Currently on anti-inflammatories but if they don't work I could be looking at surgery :(

ronaldo plays much higher up the pitch than lampard

that'll be because he is a winger grego , doesn't mean he should more goals as if you look at any 'ordinary wingers' they never as high up the score sheet as the man of the moment ronaldo, he is an exception to the rule............how many have the scouse wingers scored this season? i'd imagine alot less that your midfielders?!

if I could just butt in here, Ronaldo plays more like a wide striker than winger, hence just him & rooney up front most times
.

what is that meant to mean. when i said he plays much higher up the pitch than lampard it was to deal with the point you made about lampard's "oppurtunities to score would be far greater due to him playing a central role", which i disagree with cos ronaldo plays like a forward (in position and in role) and lampard has never been anything other than a midfield, an attacking one yes but box to box nonetheless.

if you read what i said, i actually disagree that he is an "ordinary winger", so comparing his goal tally to them is pointless.

our midfield hasn't scored much at all. period.

and i've already said this in the thread earlier.........:?

(a lot of the time as one of 3, even when larsson was playing up, it'd be with rooney left and ronaldo right)

   no need to get testy I'm only winding you up, less of the abuse with the f you comment!

I know exactly what you said and do agree that he is no ordinary winger but at the end of the day (where ever he plays or how he does it!) his nominations speak for themselves and he does deserve to win it over drogba or any other of the nominated players (inc the other 2 united ones ;) ), is that not what the thread started out as :? :!:

Ronaldo has had a season to remember so far

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers' Association.
The 22-year-old winger is the first player to win both awards in the same season since Andy Gray in 1977.
The Portuguese star has recovered from last year's World Cup controversy to help United battle for three trophies.
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was second and Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes third in the senior award.

Do you agree with the PFA results?

Ronaldo was booed at the start of the season for his part in Wayne Rooney's sending off in the World Cup quarter-final match between England and Portugal in Germany.
But he has bounced back superbly and has so far scored 16 Premiership goals this season to fire United to the top of the table.
The winger said it was a big honour to be singled out by his peers.
He said: "It is a special night. It is amazing and a big honour for me to win trophies like this in the English Premier League. I am very proud.

I think he is the best player in the world and his season has been incredible

Sir Alex Ferguson

"My colleagues have voted for me and that is fantastic because the players know the qualities of players.
"I want to keep working hard and getting better because these trophies have now given me more motivation.
"This great team has helped me because when the team wins it is easier for us all to play with more confidence."
Fabregas was second and Tottenham's Aaron Lennon, 20, third in the voting for the young player award.
Ronaldo's team-mate Wayne Rooney (21) was also shortlisted, as were Reading striker Kevin Doyle, 23, and 18-year-old defender Micah Richards of Manchester City.
Eight Manchester United players made it into the team of the year while manager Sir Alex Ferguson was honoured with the PFA Special Merit Award.
Ferguson paid tribute to Ronaldo, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon in a £12.2m deal in August 2003.
"At this moment in time, I think he is the best player in the world and his season has been incredible," he said.

Well deserved and I've no need to say I told you so as it was inevetible.......good to see that the team of the year was about 90% united players as well    !

I must admit the funniest thing I have read about this is that when Rondaldo was asked what footballer does he enjoy watching he said himself 8O  !
