Love the reader comments on that story, like the really sensitive bloke who posted this response:

I'm surprised there aren't more accidents/fatalities on the tubes because of crowding on the platforms.
 
The Tube is not very pleasant i used to hate having to get it every day when i lived in London,even worse in summer when it's really hot and you have trouble breathing and there's always some smelly basta*d beside you:evil:

The public transport in Dublin however (with the exception of the http://www.luas.ie/ which ive no complaints about) is desperate, serious traffic jams and overcrowded buses and being Ireland no one ever got around to actually building a proper underground system, they spent years talking about it but never actually done fcuk all about it :roll: so consider yourselves lucky you actually have an underground system even if it isn't ideal.

And that twat can tell that to my sister, who was lucky to survive being thrown onto the tracks at a station where the crowd surged forward after a fight broke out.

Weeks in hospital, confidence shattered and as a souvernir, the knowledge that she'd be dead but for a very brave stranger who jumped down after her and lifted her to safety just before a train came in.

Hmm, seems like I am in a minority here. I love riding on the tubes around London. I have seen every episode of "The Tube" about 3 times:oops: Maybe I would feel diferently if I depened on the tubes for getting to work on a daily basis.

Funny tube story;

Many years ago on one of my first ever tube journeys, I was travelling from my then home - Harrow on The Hill to Bournemouth for a week long residential training course. I was on a tube with my briefcase and sports bag, crammed into a doorway of the carriage. The door opened and the masses wanted to get off, a business suited woman caught her foot in my sports bag handle and fell right out of the tube train onto the platform and half a dozen people fell around and atop her:oops: :oops: :oops: :oops: I was still inside the carriage staring, paralysed with shock and embarassment. The pile of people quickly righted themselves and made off without a word, the original woman turned to me and said "You stupid boy" and walked off:spank: Probably the most embarrasing moment of my life.8O 8O :oops:

I was reading a piece in one of the evening freebies last week where a reporter spent a night with the tube staff and the guy interviewed said that the main cause for signal failure, which is the main cause for tube disruption, was discarded litter from tune users.....so basically it's out fault that they are forever breaking down!!! :roll:

p.s on an unrelelated note, did anyone see that documentary about ghosts on the undergound?? 8O spooky stuff!!

I think the barriers like at london bridge (picadilly line) are pretty good. I'm not sure how many other stations use it but not only is it a benefit to safety its handy for seeing where the doors will be and also having a lil rest against :D
