TRIP IN JEAPORDY :(

Grr, after a weekend of holiday hunting Im gettin slightly annoyed and frustrated with...

Online travel agents who advertise prices minus fuel tax, airport tax, room supplements etc.

The price we thought we'd have to pay has risen about 100-200 quid.

Yes yes, we should have booked earlier.
Yes we shouldn't expect bargains etc.

Still gutted though, its looking about 50/50 at the moment and the decision to spend a whack of the spending money on the extra for the accomodation flights etc. isn't only mine to make unfortunately.

As I'm always happy to help a few Spotlighter, especially one from near my neck of the woods:

Where are you looking at going and when? It's possibly cheaper for you to book through the internet. This is what I did and got some great deals.

It would be a shame not to go.

Alas, its been internet we've been looking at. All the cheap and cheerful sites. Problem is, all the costs are hidden until you phone to book. Tonnes advertised at about £300 for 7 nights, but when you take flight times into account ie. saturday 11:30 departing glasgow - returns following saturday at 04:30 you only really get 5 nights there and they add on tonnes of extra charges once you phone up. most of the cheap ones left have room supplements on them, then unadvertised fuel charges?!? then add transfers etc. it all adds up. my gripe is with the websites who don't actually advertise the proper cost. makes looking for a holiday a nightmare as you need to keep searching and phoning for every deal. lesson learned. next year, im paying well in advance, even if i do end up paying a couple of hundred more.

We are now looking for any location in ibiza, and any star accomodation, even rat infested dinge pits. Chris even suggested flying out and sleeping on the beach!

I just suggested to him this morning that as a last resort we should at least try and book Magalluf or something if Ibiza doesn't come off. Im not sure if id rather go to magalluf or blackpool! But I will cry if Ibiza doesn't come off. Its all about the benjamins though.

Book a flight by using one of the bargain flights (etc) sites - I've seen them flying from Scotland for about £100 return (or you could even go via Barcelona with Ryainair or Globespan as I did and then fly to Ibiza which won't cost more than about £110, probably a lot less).

For accommodation, use www.holidaynights.com. They have some really cheap deals (most not available via Spotlight's wonderful pages!) so I reckon you'd still get it for within £300.

Good luck!

gah, cheapest flight i can find 180 each 8O

any ideas for flight sites clara?

sorry to be a pain, found a hotel for 220 each for the week, looks promising!

I know the feeling. trying to book a trip in sept with missus, but no joy.

Very expensive this year. I have found that some operators are simply not putting on the holidays to Ibiza this year.

Its strange as I was in Ibiza in July and was talking to the manergeress of our apartments. She stated that about 3 to 4 big hotels in San An have shut down due to lack of trade, but when I told her we couldnt find trips available out to Ibiza she was shocked, as she was under the impression that people just simply werent coming tho the island as they have in recent years.

Airtours have cut their flights to ibiza now and it seems the choice of cheap hols with 18-30 / escapades etc are now limited (i know they are sh1t but they offer cheap accom).

Does anyone have any links to package holiday comparison websites? Ones that you can actually get your final price (after all the supliments etc).

I used to use www.bargainholidays.com, but now they are w@nk and ask you to call them for a final price and details.

Try alpharooms.com or hotelopia.co.uk they have cheap accomodation
they also have the cest pits if you want to stay there

I know it sounds as though I'm doing PR for them, but through Holiday Nights, there are some really good deals for the Sirenis Jabeque apartments in Figueretas that's a great base to stay. 6 days in June came in at a mere £250 in total for a 1 bedroom apartment.

10 days for 250 from Glasgow

Don't know if this will help but I paid £370 for a week in June through a travel agent but I have booked up direct to go for 10 days in September and it's only costing £250. We are flying from Glasgow - flight booked through www.thomsonflights.com and staying at the Jet apartments in PDM booked direct - total cost £250 :D Really hope you get something sorted.

thanks guys,

easy jet is 140 each, this is looking better. still works out at 360 but thats a hell of a lot better than some scummy package deal which effectively robs you of 2 nights.

i'll keep you posted. thanks again.

Have you tried going into Thomas Cook and the like? I remember I booked a holiday late in 2002 and I got something half price. Was meant to be £700 but we got it for £350 for 2 weeks. Was a nice place, directly opposite Coastline.

I know you're not doing PR for them Clara, but if you were, this is exactly the language you'd use  [/b]

S'Estanyol
Paraiso
Pisces
and then theres another one... i always forget it...

main thing is, we are going :D

Thanks guys, this time yesterday i was depressed. Seriously, I just couldn't see it happening. Even after my efforts of looking for stuff when I got home and priced it all up to Chris,he was still saying too pricey, which I kinda knew it was myself. So gutted, I buggered off to bed where I promptly fell asleep, only to be woken up an hour later by an excited Chris who'd found a perfect deal for our needs so we just booked there and then. Absolutely immense. just need to find my passport now 8O

Thanks again folks! Hope to meet some Spotlighters this year...

Thanks for those who posted help here, i have now booked up for me and the missus to go to Ibiza for 2 weeks in San An for 365 each.

A lot cheaper than the 500 being quoted for the time we have off.

Booked up with Thomsonflights and Hotelopia, hope all goes welL!

Ta!
