I'm thinking of driving around Europe next Spring for approx 14 days. The countries I want to see are France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland (sorry Sil, not Spain  ) Does anyone have any info on this.... i,e how to get started, any good places to stay/see etc?

Any info would be greatly appreciated :D

It's ok, why going to Spain and miss the paella, the sun, the sea, the tapas, the siesta, the sangría and all that when you can go to Austria and have... mmmmm.... a vals! (Sorry Viena, just joking ;) )

Becki, are you ready to drive on the other side? 8O

I can probably help you with France/Switzerland.

My brother lives in Switzerland and my parents often drive there through France.

Drop me a line if you have any specific queries and hopefully i'll be able to get you the answers ;)

:D

Thats a great idea Becki, i really want to go to Switzerland and Italy. I think theres plans to go Next June so let me know what its like :D

Sil - we've been to Ibiza loads of times though, and that's Spain, so we're a bit bored of that now ;) 8) We wanna see the Alps! 8O

This is the semi-planned route:

London - Calais - Tours - Lyon - Monaco - Milan - Florence - Rome - Ravenna - Venice - Austria - Switzerland - Geneva - Paris - London :D

Obviously I need to check out the times it takes to drive between these places, I might have to miss a few out

Drew: can you ask your brother for any good places to visit/stay in Switzerland?

That's a lot!!!

Bec, it does sound rather a lot for 2 weeks, have you looked at the forum on the lonely planet website? Have a look on there for some ideas.

Oh Im confused :? :( I just drew lines from each city on a map for the route we'd take

There's a spanish site where it gives you the km between two cities, I'm sure you can find it in english (miles).

I might just book a club 18-30 holiday to Faliraki next year, it's a lot less hassle

I love planning trips. Don't worry you'll get there in the end and it'll be so worth it ;)
