this year - have mainly been catching up on old tunes, which is why I've kept fairly quiet in this thread but occasionally have come across some new releases which are just wow on every level
dj harvey presents locussolus - 'next to you' harvey is a bit of a legend blah blah and hopefully one day he will return to play in the UK (he's playing the worldwide festival in France in a few weeks time) He has a new album about to drop any time now and this is the killer tune off there - a stunning balearic record

steffi feat virginia - 'yours'
had never heard of steffi until my old cohorts the Be Deep crew booked her for their night in Glasgow last year. Her profile's really rocketed since then and this is an absolute monster peaktime houser off her excellent yours & mine album - reminds me slightly of the fauna flash mix of stereotyp's keepin me (another epic tune)

lone - 'coreshine voodoo'
astonishing to think this is a new production - it could easily have been made in 1988

similarly wild geese - 'labyrinth' - totally acidhouse but still sounding very fresh

Now I think spencer parker is one of the best British producers/DJs around - no coincidence that so many of the best British guys are relocating to Berlin at the moment (see also ewan pearson and red rackem). Spencer Parker reflected on his move and the whole business of touring as a DJ in this write up for resident adviser. Good read >

his mixes really appeal to my less fluffy side - listen here >

and the standout track on there for me is the opener Murk - 'amame'
Todd Terje 'snooze 4 love' has already been generating a fair bit of love in this thread - I like the way tt has slowly been reinventing himself - the scandolearic sound which sounded so fresh in 2005 was starting to get a bit stale and todd terje, lindstrom and prins thomas are all very much more on the house tip these days but without losing their quirkiness.
pepe california - 'floating alone'
altogether now - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

and the maddest thing I've heard in a while - need to hear this out
DJ Koze - 'My Cyaan Believe it'

and
I may have mentioned these before - but I need to hear more from this woman
Ana Helder - 'Complicado'
