tourists from hell

on ITV last night and there was a 20 min piece on ibiza. not surprisingly the west end featured heavily, mainly as it was around the time of world cup in 2002. to be fair, the piece described it pretty much as it happens (i.e. a few idiots in amongst a drunken atmosphere of young people letting go on their holidays).

the part that shocked me though was the family describing how they came out of the hotel club playa d'en bossa to see two people in the gutter outside the hotel injecting themselves (apparently still there 2 hours later). Also in and around playa d'en bossa........12-16 year old girls and boys were being propositioned for sex:? !

now i'm not naive enough to believe that neither of these incidents could not have happened but I can honestly say that I have never experienced either of these acts described occurring openly in playa d'en bossa (and thats after living there for 6 months).

yet another dig at ibiza's image:evil:  ...........stephen...thoughts??

Yeah I was watching this too.
I honestly think they made the injecting thing up to make their case better to thompsons. :?
It just sounds the type of thing people like them (who prob know nowt about Druqs) would say.

The brits in the bit in the west end bit made me feel sick, what a gang of scrubbers.

the west end thing was unsurprising if just still as horrific (and post-england football games areabout as bad as it gets). i agree.......injecting in the gutter, probably having a henna tattoo done or somethin.

funny to see wes from mambo and also oscar in a non-speaking role......his half price kebabs kept me from disintegrated in the 2000 season and he has still got one of my beatles cds. bathtard!!

but no worse than matthew street on a saturday night?

let's face it, anybody could make a report like this about anywhere. it's what people love to watch. who in their right mind wants to watch me out in a boat fishing, doing a bit of snorkeling, or taking a mid morning coffee in a garden bar?

it's all about sensationalism.

I suppose but I think those places that get the 'worst' or most sensationalist press will often see a backlash against this. in other words, ibiza has a reputation for sure but i think (and hope) that gradually the real ibiza, the really sensational side ofibiza is becoming more known about.

We saw that last night and said the same as you guys. We have never seen anything like that, in Ibiza - injecting in the street, really

I don't believe that woman saw anything of the sort - the silly cow

I don't agree with you stephen, whilst binge drinking is awful on a sat night on Matthew street and most towns/city's in the UK I think that footage of the west end was in a leauge of it's own.

Then again i've never set foot on Matthew street or the West end (don't ever intend to either) so I shouldn't really comment! :D ;)

I hate to say it but there have been TWO occasions on different holidays that I've seen people openly usining needles in very public places in Ibiza town. :?

...Interestingly, I've never seen anybody doing this anywhere else in the world.

But agreed, much of it is sensationalism.
