OK so that's that time of year & thought it would be interesting 2 start a thread about the TOP 5 DEFINITIVE RECORDS that have either:

1) not left your record bag?

or

2) you cant stop playing on your CD players/ipods or loved them when they were played @ your favourite clubs?

TOP 5 DEFINITIVE RECORDS FOR 2005 4 ME ARE:
(please note i prollly have about ten but five will have 2 do)

1. MARTINEZ - SHADOWBOXING (TRENTEMOLLER MIX)
WHAT A FRIGGIN' MONSTER OF A TRACK! this guy has not only delivered some magical production this year but his remixes have made me moist! LOVE LOVE LOVE this record & it got a C/A/I/N/I/N/G

2. MATHIAS SCHAFFHAUSER - COINCIDENCE (TRENTEMOLLER REMIX)
like i just said, trentemoller is the man, if he cant do it, no1 can!! hehehe
nasty, f***ed-up, german greatness! 8)

3. NUMBER ONE SON - PUSSY POWER
dirty, aciiiiiiiid electro with the words "pussy power" repeated throughout! what more could a girl ask for?

4. CLAUDE VON STROKE - DEEP THROAT (JOHN TEJADA MIX)
quirky bleeps & beats that always gets me going. played this on my show 4 weeks on end & it's still in my bag. love it lots.....

5. JOHN TEJADA - SWEAT ON THE WALLS
(or as all the boys like 2 say "sweat on my balls")
housey yet not, electro yet not, vocal yet not.... love the production, the vibe, the 'it's just makes you wanna dance' feel about this one.....

OK so i have WAY more but i suppose these would be the top 5 off the top of my head.....

SO WHAT ARE YOURS?

**** special mention goes to****

6. JUSTIN MARTIN & SAMMY D - CATS & DOGS
couldnt help myself. this quirky house track is the shit also! 8) [/b]

1. Physical fraction - Trentemoller

As Tashy has pointed out, I'd say this chap is the producer of the year - he's pretty much defined the sound of underground house in 2005. Res'peck.

2. Carrier - David West

Gorgeous, epic, ethereal, prog-breaks, I LOVE this tune. Not my usual sound so I didn't really play it out, but it's still sitting at the top on my 'Most played' list on my iPod :)

3. Instrumental - Mode Hookers

The first 'big room electro' tune to really grab me - caned by everyone from Paul Woolford to Armin van Buuren 8)

4. Rhythmique (Grayson Shipley remix) - Stu Hirst

Big up to Stu Hirst who is making melodic house cool again in my eyes - and Deepgroove have had a massive year too :D

5. Black worm - Phil Kieren

Bleep brrrr bleep!! Showing you can make infectious and involving grooves with seemingly random noises, this tune really effected me as a producer in the way I think about the percussive elements of a track.

5? You must be joking.

1. Yoshimoto - Du What U Du (Trentemoller remix)*
Absolute stormer, and will get no arguements on here. The sheer thump of it when it comes in from the first and second breaks. I simply cannot not do the "couch dance" when it comes on.

2. Hard Fi - Hard to Beat (Axwell mix)
This took a while for me to get it, and then it has worked on me on so many levels. Just brings such a "warm" feeling when the vocal fully kicks in, like you're surounded by your mates.

3. Killers - Mr Brightside (Jlc/twd mix)
I make no apologies that this track made itself at the first villa party. After all the fuss about getting there, this came on, and I was all a bit dewy eyed as a I looked around and realised I was surrounded by wicked wicked people, and we were BACK on the island! Also heard the original at Glasto which was one of the highlights of the weekend. This is my and SuperD's "our tune"!

4. Axwell & Ingrosso - Together
Thumping, driving track with a great great falsetto vocal which works so so well.

5. Blaze feat Barbara Tucker - Most Precious Love*
First heard on November 11th 2004 (will remember the date forever), yet took a while to blow up, so is included this year too. I'll say no more, than IMO it's the greatest *cough* funky *cough* house record since the Pound boys mix of Angie Stone. Maybe even better than that. And that's BIG words coming from me.

6. Holmes Ives feat. Avalon Frost - 8 Letters (MK and MTV Skunk Funk mix)*
Great tune, perfection of the MTV/MK drummy sound as heard in the sandcastles or Strings of life mixes. Again, great vocal, and again, first heard at the Vila party. Nods to Mr Scoobs for putting me onto this one.

7. Lifelike and Kris Menace - Discopolis
Awesome record. Nods to Mr Hirst this time for the early call on this tunes impact.

8. Africanism - Samurai Theme
As my mate said, "imagine walking into Pacha on the first night of your holiday, up to the first down steps to the dance floor, and this has just been put on". Cannot believe it didn;t blow up as much as what it should have done. Best africanism record ever IMO (though I hate 99% of them).

9. Pryda - Aftermath
Great "roller" of a tune. As smashed by Seamus Haji in Amsterdam at the ADE. You just gotta love the way it echos, bleeps and drags on.

10. Joey Negro - Make a Move on Me
Admittedly borrowing heavily from MPL, but stiil get's the floor going like no other, and the production on it is usual JN standards.

11. Martijn Ten Velden - Wish you Would
Bit of a fake here, as I only heard this twice out, and otherwise have been on teh phonetic website regularly loking for updates. Massive massive tune, will probably appear here agin in my 2006 charts.

12. Happy Fathers - Bounce*
Great party song, if a little cheesy. Formulaic, but get's hands in the air every time.

13. Solid Groove - This is Sick
Away from my normal sphere of appreciation, though love the "design" of the tune, and it's uniquness. Also love the way it stops everyone on th floor, some in bewilderment, others trying to judge when it comes in, ready to go mental. (I could down from 16 from the start of the flanger). It's a f***er to mix subtly though.

14. Philip B - Can U Feel it
This record made me £1,000,000. A debt which will be bought on Scoobie, should she say i do "for richer or poorer" to her intended.

15.Tom Novy - Your Body (Andy Van M remix)
Girly crowd pleaser. Works though.

16. Lovedance - Hypnotic
Love this record. Memories of Bora Bora, and uses the same sample as an all time fave (not west end girls though!)

* Probably not 2005 for most people

Haha, no, unless she blames him for inviting "that c*nt who's ruined my big day by bribing the organ player to do the Roicky Theme tune rather than the wedding march...".

(Steven bet me £1,000,000 sterling that, when Roger Sanchez played this tune, he thought it was Pump up my Jam, in P'char)

Fuming wrt to the tickets. I didn't want to lay on the guilt, but I had literally just done my hair and put my clothes on when you rang, and was eying myself up in the mirror.

Instead I watched the comedians comedian (and not one mention, though how anyone respect a poll with robin williams at 46. And you should have seen the people infront of him. ridiculous...) and did some computer programming. Looking ridicuolously good and nicely groomed.

If re-washed my hair and went to bed around 1. If I had been woken again to offer me tickets, I would have screamed.

Sorry sir - next time when everyone's going somewhere I can sort guestlist and I say I'm not going make me ring up and do it in lieu of the complete turnaround I'm abviously gonna make on the night ;)

I'm not quite sure I understand that, though please, you never have to apologise to me (unless it's a really bad gag).

Really, on Sunday I was singing your praises in my head, as I felt superb when I woke up, and pitied all those "mugs" who'd be in all kinds of states at this time of day.

;)

Indeed. Sunday morning came and I was bouncing around the bedroom (as it were) trying to convince Anna we had to get up at 8.30am to 'get the best out of the day'.

Haha, I wouldn't go 8:30 far, but yeah, it was one of those "so this is how other people feel like on Sundays... Blimey..."

By midday, I'd read three tabloids (ok, that was by 8.45) and most of the Observer, cooked a full breakfast, taken the car to get washed and managed to get Anna out of bed!

Gonna have all Sundays like that from now on......

Lifelike & Kris Menace - Discopolis
Elio Riso & Raffunk - To Be Or Not To Be
Bob Sinclar - Love Generation
Deux - Sun Rising Up
Jerry Ropero & Denis The Menace - Coracao (Axwell Mix)

WHY?... SPACE TERRACE! ;)

Yet it's a crime to name just 5 :P

This was THE villa party tune (which was why I played it the 2nd time - the first was Stu Hirst at sunset! I get quite emotional when I hear it, that was definitely my best day of 2005 :) :) :) :)

Indeed.

It will always be the villa tune.

1. JLC's mix of Mr Brightside
Definitely remix of the year and the biggest track I have played out in 2005

2. Will Saul - Mbira (Infusion Remix) - the biggest hook of the year. Massive.

3. Rhythmique (Grayson Shipley remix) - sorry, had to put it in, has been the most important record of my life and it isn't even out yet ! Taken an age to get sorted out, but finally coming out soon on Viva. Grayson's mix took a decent idea and turned it into big room business.

4. Kris Menace - Discopolis
Possibly the one record of the year that I nearly wet my pants when I first heard it.

5. Martin H - Sounds Reviving
think i've played this in every set this year

6. Yoshimoto - Do What U Do (Trentmoller Mix)
Remixer of the year? Quite possibly.

7. Mark Knight & Paul Harris - This Is Jack
Tried to sign this to Subversive, missed out. Still don't know when it'll be out. A grower, dirty electronic house with a subtle melody.

8. Chab - Closer (Alex Neri Remix)
simple but effective

9. Silver City - Shiver (Ewan Pearson Mix)
prog/trance/house, who cares, awesome

10. SVen Vath - Komm (Gregor Tresher Mix)
Finally got a copy after months of trying - huge electro riff and German vox which work surprisingly well !
