Top 30 Richest DJs 2012

out of interest folks

how many of that list (no need for actual names)
would you pay (reasonable entry fee) to go see?

i reckon 5/6 for me

Zero - might cart self out to see Carl Cox but quite honestly I couldn't be more musically uninspired by this list.

As a trance fan I would happily pay to see most of the trance ones. But having said that, a number of them I've seen so many times that there are now many other people I'd rather see - DJs 'worth' a lot less based on this list. Certainly wouldn't pay specifically to see Judge Jules though. Who would?

But as mentioned, pretty meaningless list of DJs. Looks like a rehash of the DJ Mag Top 100 poll based on complete guess work and hearsay.

I think the only DJ's / Acts I would pay to go and see out of that list are...

#18: Deadmau5 Net Worth – $12 million
#16: Carl Cox Net Worth – $15 million
#15: The Chemical Brothers Net Worth – $15 million
#6: Sasha (DJ) Net Worth – $40 million

when your at a house party and a frind plays a tune you love and your with your friends and others you dont know , and you all go mad... does it matter what the person who played the tune earns?

I know this is idealistic and abit of a fairy story but i really believe lists like this are killing this scene whatever you choose to call it 'clubbing' ,'djing' , 'dance music' , 'EDM' , whatever.... Even for the people who are on the list they almost certainly didnt get into it for money reasons and if they now do it solely for money reasons , then i personally dont want to hear about them

The list may be somewhat out of date.

Tiesto would certainly be up there but the likes of Guetta and the Swedish house mafia would be a much more significant sum than what is showed on this list.

It's crazy to think that they are making this sort of money isn't it

Yes and no - this is a relatively discerning forum and most have said they would pay a premium to see many of these veee eyeee peeee spinners (not to be confused with musos).

What does that say about the general gimp turnout of Ibiza?

There are 21 DJs on that list I'd go and see, but usually see the majority of them at Festivals (e.g. Carl Cox) as my group of friends don't like to stray from trance :?

How is Deadmau5 earning less than Skrillex? He discovered Skrillex!

I remember when people cared about the music that was played, not the money that was paid. House use to be about the music. What happened for FFS? Has it all gone side ways?:spank::twisted:

Yes - since around 92.

...and massively towards the millennium - but now spring break America has suddenly invented dance music (conveniently forgetting its black, gay chicago roots ) - it's gone stellar.

Like with nearly all things this day, it's become more easily accessible, and thus easier to commercialise.

I would have thought Daft Punk would be the highest, and im pretty sure if they had royalties from every megabyte used to discuss if they will ever do a live show again they would be billionaires :)

Glad to see Carl Cox is earning a few bob, he is probably the most normal and down to earth person on that list
