Top 10 tracks that have made u who ur.....

1) The Orb - little fluffy clouds, even the thought of it gives me goose bumps, it reminds me of endless sunny summer holidays when as a kid you would lie down and look at the clouds moving and making shapes. Also I remember listening to it whilst driving a hire car on my first proper holiday without parents!.

2) The Cult "she sells sanctuary" , I remember hearing it and thinking "yea" and one of the first cd singles I bought back in 89.

3) Goldie - Timeless (inner city life) Haunting and amazing, so many memories of London with this one.

4) Beastie Boys - Paul Revere . Somebody had the "new" beastie boy album on tape with them on a school trip, by the time it was time to go home i knew all the words.

5) Happy Mondays - Holiday , I love the whole album (pills , thrills and bellyaches) but this song stands out and reminds me of many of my mates who were Mondays wanabees in the very early 90's

5) Blue Monday - New order . Well it's iconic , the 12" with the di-cut sleeve cost more to produce than it sold for (allegedly) and it was top of it's game back in the day.

6) Oasis - Champagne Supernova . Simply because it was the song me and my mate would always sing after a few beers during a trip to KOS in 1998 (appologies to anyone that was there)

7) The Fog - Been a long time . I went to Oxford may day ball in 1998 and fuelled by alcohol and whipped up into a frenzie by "the Judge" It is one of the few memories I have of the event but everyone seemed to be smiling.

8 )* DJ Seduction - Harcore Heaven , just one tune from a choice of so many around this time , it still give me a HUGE buzz!

(edited from) Def Leopard - Love bites As a teenager so many of the lyrics seemed apt at the time.

9) Metallica - Nothing else matters . I once remember saying to my brother (an acomplished guitarist) that I want him to play this at my funeral espacially the guitar solo bit. yes weird I know.

10) LFO - LFO . Simply because it was a smash in the face introduction to awsome bass , totally OTT but different.

As soon as I post this I will want to change the list either partially or completely but its just what i can think of this very moment.

My Choices

What a good question! The following tracks are in no order

1. Notorious BIG - Juicy
Im not a massive Hip Hop fan but i cant help rap along to this one
2. Supergrass - Alright
A very 90's track and cant help but make you feel good
3. Tracy Chapman - Fast car
One of my Mum's favourite tracks and it just has happy memories of me being at home with my family
4. Everything but the girl - missing (Todd Terry remix)
Happy memories of slow dancing with girls at school discos, i reckon this will be one of the tracks i play to my kids while they moan about how 'old' it is.
5. Rui Da Silva - Touch me
Just one of the dance tracks that has stuck with me over the years and that i still like
6. Monstaboy ft Denzie - Sorry
I loved Garage for a few years and i still know all the words to this one
7. Yoshimoto - Du what u Du
This is my favourite track from a Smokin Jo CD by MOS and it started my current love for repetitive electronic dance music
8. Dr Dre - Still D.R.E
This represents a time in my teens when i used to hang about in friends bedrooms smoking illegal substances. Dr Dre and Bone Thugs n Harmony got played alot.
9. Pryda - Muranyi
I love this track because it reminds me of all the old computer games i loved, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Altered beast etc etc
10. Pato Banton - Baby come back
The first single i ever bought on tape

Human League - Don't you want me
One of the first songs I can remember hearing my parents listening to.

Eurythmics - Love Is A Stranger
Same as above , Eurthymics then became the first band I really liked , and still do.

Greece 2000 - Three Drives
While listening to this song on The Ibiza Annual 1998 I decided that I badly needed a job to buy a set of Technics (had just left college at the time) I picked up the phone there and then and scored an interview. I got the job and I'm still there.

Future Force - What You Want http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__2esAgGeOQ
When I was 17 I went to a nightclub for the first time and this was the first song I heard. I instantly knew this was what I wanted to play. The next day I sold my happy hardcore records and started buying house.

DJ Shadow - Influx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgJ-kKAWa68
I'd heard this on a skateboard video and really liked it. I went looking for his album Endtroducing and was just amazed when I heard it. I had no idea music like this even existed. Still my favorite album.

Hudson People - Trip To Your Mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYGI6YES5p4
In 1999 I bought a CD called Disco Spectrum because I liked the tagline on it "Real disco for real people" . All I knew of disco at the time was the super cheesy commercial side of it like Lipps Inc , Village People etc. I was totally blown away by the CD and I started looking for more and more real disco after that. This was my favorite track from Disco Spectrum.

Bizzare Inc - Playing With Knives
I think this was the first dance tune I really liked. I was 12 and I somehow got hold of this album ...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spirit-Ecst...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1236098403&sr=1-1
I listened to this constantly for months.

That's only 7 but I'll add the other 3 when I think of them.

U96 DAS BOOT! This was my first awakening to Techno and was the tune that started me as a DJ back when dance music was very much underground and the only way you could get your hands on new sounds was through 12" white label vinyls.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwc0shJ2aYc

THE ORB LITTLE FLUFFY CLOUDS The first time I heard this I was blown away. A new type of music "Ambient trance" had arrived! A modern blissful masterpiece.

I always remember the first dance song i liked was The Shamen - Ebeneezer Good...........
I remember my parents telling me it was a load of rubbish! I obviously didnt have a clue what it symbolised at the time! (i was only about 12)

I went into a strange Hardcore phase in my early teens before i heard ATB - 9PM on Seb Fontaines Prototype 1 Cd. Signum - What Ya Got For Me and Moonman - Moonman blew me away in the 'early days'
Pretty much from there on dance music was my life! And my first trip to Ibiza in 2001 brought House music into my life, and it has remained ever since.

The Space Album 2001, namely X-Press 2 - Muzikizm and Mutiny - Secrets did it for me!!
Since then there are too many to list. at least a couple for every year!

Certainly up there as most memorable that made me obsessed with ibiza were Cassius - The Sound of Violence and Ministers De Funk - Believe.

Can I just say, that is the scariest post I have ever read. That is a mirror image of me. Loved the shamen in my early years, then went onto hardcore, went onto trance late nineties, then went to Ibiza for the 1st time in 01, and since then it has been house all the way.

I also adore Mutiny - Secrets and Cassius - Sound of Violence.

Spooky:eek:

Here are my top ten

Shamen - Forever People

The Who - Wont Get Fooled Again

Stone Roses - Waterfall

KOT - Finally

Oasis - Champagne Supernova

Julien Jabre - SSwimming Places

Veracocha - Carte Blanche

Pulp - E's & Wizz

Marc Evans - Giving Me Joy

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much

These are only my 'dance' related 10 tracks

1. Nalin & Kane - Beachball (Full Mix)
I'd been an indie kid for years, but hadn't noticed I'd been listing to electronic music for ages, until it all clicked one day on hearing this track - then I realised I really liked dance music.

2. Daft Punk - Da Funk
**** yeah, what an awesome tune!!

3. Rui da Silva - Touch Me
If ever an example of what a deep, progressive house track is needed, this is it.

4. Robbie Rivera - Funk-a-Tron (Robbies Drop That Funk Mix)
Big room full on vocal smash. To me weeks to track it down on vinyl, eventually got a copy from New York.

5. Royksopp - Poor Leno
Heard this months before it was released in the UK and turned my mates onto it (and Royskopp) who they all loved it/them.

6. Southsoniks - Ars Longa
European techno made me realise there was more than just “Thud, thud thud” to techno (and then some!). Have quite a few Souhsoniks/Alexander Kowalski discs thanks to this track.

7. Underworld – Kittens
How good are Underworld, and how good is this track!

8. Massive Attack – Protection
Brings a tear to my eye every time, just beautiful.

9. Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel And Dresden Mix)
A great example of how the understated trance vocal can be more powerful that the biggest breakdown.

10. Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
One of the greatest use of lyrics ever, and written by some French guys.

I've thought about this 'tracks that have made you' idea before, but picked 50 tracks. These can be found here -

mmm....different question to the 'best' tracks innit! I will cheat and do two top 5's

in no particular order & this is solely driven by the ones that have been the sound track to me lifeas oppossed to.....f uck me some of you must be sat there trying to think of the most obscure surely for cool points?!

Influences - Basically - my early / mid teens

1 - No Suprises - Radiohead
2 - Losing my religion - REM
3 - Estranged GnR
4 - Hysteria - Def Leppard
5 - & then as I got into Trance & the Cream thing - Sugar Rush, Man with no Name

& my Faves - which change day to day......

1 - Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása becomes Olsen Olsen - Sigur Ros
2 - Nude - Radiohead
3 - Lies - Fleetwood Mac
4 - Your Favourite Sky - I Am kloot
5 - Into my Arms - Nick Cave

good call on man with no name! - huge rampling tune when he was going through his GOA phase on LGDP in 95-96, later heard on perfecto fluoro too. Used to stick it on pretty loud in our halls pre-klub :D

not sure it's aged that well though - like a lot of the trance/perfecto stuff from that period

In no order..

1 - David Guetta - Just A Little More Love
Just one of them happy sing along that every one knows

2 - Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
This was the tune I first heard when I was about 13 and from that day onwards ive loved dance music :) Happy days

3 - Solar Stone - Seven Cities
Another tune from back when. This always reminds me of the millennium new years eve as this was the backing track I placed over the videos of the fireworks going off.

4 - Orbital - Halcyon & on & on
Just simply 10 mins of heaven 8)

5 - DJ Sakin & Friends - For The Love Of A Princess
Simply because this was my first vinyl I ever bought

Never fails where ever this is played no matter what remix it is.

7 - Camisra vs. Mauro Picotto - Let Me Show You Lizard White Label
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAZssCZUC-4
This was played at Homelands in 2002?? The last tune before the out door stage closed and the crowd just went absolutely nuts!! I still love this today for this reason.

8 - Roger Sanchez - Another chance
Just simply a tune I love

9 - David Morales - Needin' U
Tune says it all really - Ibiza!!

10 - Rank 1 - Awakening (Cosmic Gate Remix)
Just purely for the energy it creates when this tune kicks in!
