Tongys Essential mix

I think thats absolute BS that he cant mix. I have an EM of him from years ago which was spot on.

Must have had his mate doing it - I have heard some absolutely horrendous live ones from him.

Maybe you had one that he edited in the studio.

fraid not, it was defo live. I've heard shocking mixes from lots of dj's, doesnt mean they are crap.

Oh right - so someone who mixes badly isnt a crap DJ.

I am gonna let my nephew know - he's eight and has two tomy-tronic plastic record players. He should make a mint.

:D

Totally agree.

But he has A LOT of off days - and is getting paid a fortune in the process.

And I cant stand his cheesy catch phrases !!! He's like the Bruce Forsyth of commercial dance :D

:D

There is more to being a successful DJ than being able to mix perfectly 100% of the time

How long have you been DJ'ing then James ??

Cant be ar*sed any more trying to discuss house music with teenagers and trance fans.

Bit bored of the 'Whats your favourite record' and the same cheesy s*hite coming up and the same thing with the 'Whats your favourite DJ'

If any of you have any time spare between listening to your Ministry Of Sound compilation's have a look at www.undergroundhouse.net for some views and mixes from some of the world's genuinely talented producers and DJ's

Comin, i've never had a prob with u before but i'm sorry to say that you've come accross as someone who's a bit up their own rectum over the last few posts. I'm not a fan of cheese at all but I enjoy listening and playing a variety of diff genre's including deep house.. You seem to completely disrespect any other genre's than your own, or at least thats how you come accross on this board.

He gets paid a fortune because he is probably the most influential man in dance music, bar none.
He has broken the biggest dance tracks on the planet, consistently, for years.
So he can't mix for shit, who cares?!

The man is a legend and with dance music suffering at the moment, we need people like him still around.

Your last post sounds like you are the kind of person who stands right in front of dj booths and stares at the dj (I had one on Saturday at Turnmills) who frowns upon anything that isn't 100% technically perfect and underground.

To be honest I dont give a t*oss what you think.

I am completely bored with the whole scene and what it has become. The scene is in danger of disappearing altogether due to 'gods' as mentioned above.

The fact anyone can think he is a god just confirms my suspicions.

Does anyone root out decent music anymore , well no-one on here I dont think.

Anyway I'm off to post another 'Has anyone ever seen anyone who once new someone who was on the same bus as Eric 'Cheese' Morillio' post.

Why come on here then?

Shouldn't you be off chin-stroking somewhere?

What exactly are YOU doing to affect this "dying" scene?
What new music are YOU searching out?
What new nights are YOU putting on?

Explain how the scene will disappear alltogether because of people like tong? I dont think anyone said he was a god, more that he is infuential. More than anything he is helping the side of the scene he's involved with. I bet stu was over the moon when tong played rhythmique on the show last week. No doubt it will help promote his track no end. So if pete's doing the same thing with plenty of other tracks every week then i cant see why he's killing the scene. What the fook makes u think your so great?

As far as 'rooting' decent music goes i think thats a bold and somewhat arrogant statement to make. You dont know jack all about alot of the people on this forum and what their music tastes are. You prob assume that i listen to e-samba every day and cant wait to get my next dave pearce fix? I think not. Show some respect for others or funk off.

Well actually I can't DJ, I've never tried, but strange as it may sound, I do spend some time trying to find what I like, my search doesn't come up with the same conclusions as you though.
In my opinion, dance music went up its own arse when prog got big around 2000-2001 and it got very boring to go clubbing, and the fun is coming back now.
Oh and I like some odd underground music, but I also like a bit of Dave Pearce on a Sunday night, does that mean that all music I like is rubbish? No. Hell, I probably like what you like too :)
