yes and no.

van buuren has been one of the best and most consistent producers of trance for years but he has been absolutle poop for well over a year now, his own productions are bland and cheesy and his remixes are just pure armin van boredom
 
But his productions have been played all over in super clubs . Explain :lol:
 
so what, like i said there are lots of crap trance dj's now playing that ott euro sound, so its bound to get heard out.

ppl play shit by the like of dumonde out, doesnt mean its any good does it?

there is a difference just cos some records get played in superclubs doesnt make them good.
 
Yes thats true but im on clubbing boards such as " Gatecrasher , Passion Ect " and ive seen alot said about armins productions n i can tell you most of them are liked very much by clubbers !

People said this Burned With Desire track was one of his tacky tracks but its grown on everyone i see him as a sucsessfull Dj even though not one of my best !
 
i post regularly on the crasher board and the general concensus now is that armin is shit.

passion doenst count they generally have bad taste in music, they love jfk and lonliness and plummet damaged where big tracks, says it all really.

you cant say that armin is a better dj than james zabiela, digweed, sasha, q-bert, sander klienenberg, steve lawler infact the list is huge, he may be more popular than these which is what the poll reflects

trance music is the most accessible dance music out there and in 2 years where the dance music scene has struggled its not suprising that a trance dj like tiesto that can fill a football stadium of ppl just to see him has won, does

is tiesto a better dj than zabiela? no, not at all, zabiela has infinatley more skill than tijs.

the dj mag poll is nout more than a popularity contest and that is why the same dj's arethere or there about every year, the only person moving through the ranks is zabiela who is building a jhuge fan base on technical skill rather than accessible easy to get music.

tell me what skills van buuren has that makes him the 3rd best dj on the planet
 
in my opinion there is no such thing as "the best dj in the world"

there isnt a best anything in the world! maybe there are things that majorities prefer but that means nothing!

theres probably some bedroom dj out there who could wipe the floor with all the current leading dj's

you need more to back up your argument, the truth is armin is a poor dj, regardless off where he comes on some popularity pole.

his mixing is poor and basic, his programming is terrible and he plays some awful tunes, such as the burned with desire and that crappy accepella of beautiful things he was abusing. the selection of tunes is obviously my opinion but the rest is fact. he has nothing on the real great dj's thus making him crap.

why is me comparing his skills to a turntabalist like q-bert or zabiela or a dj like sasha just my opinion? because it simply isnt? can avb scratch like that? no. can he build a set and mix like sasha? no, thats not opinion, that is therefor you to go out and hear.


being populardoesnt make them the best or inturn doesnt make them not shit. liverpool are one of the most popular football teams in the world that doesnt make them automatically good, in the same sense that avb being incredibly popular for the performance that he does any good either.

so by your reckoning popularity makes something good? not true, especially with regards to electronic music and djing.

lets look at the charts, ultrabeat got to number one, does that make it good? no, it makes it popular, in reality is a cheesy piece of rubbish but its easy accessible to the majority of ppl and its doesnt take any major understanding to appreciate it.

now is this better than say any piece of music from sasha's airdrawndagger album, that is more conceptual, harder to appreciate and a hell of a lot better produced? the answer is no, its not better its more popular.

transfer this thought to armins music and there you go, that is why he is the world 3rd most popular dj. as already mentioned thIS POLL DOESNT FIND THE WORLD BEST, IT IS PROBABLY SOME OBSCURE TURNTABALIST. (oops caps)

and please dont say armins mixing is 3rd best in the worl or i will have to laugh at you. his performances do get a good reaction cos he plays that big music that lots of ppl get and gets between tunes with simple, poor mixing.

no one can argue about what is the best anything.....

we have lived different lifes have different senses, have different complexions have had different experiences have had different up-bringings, live in different places, do different things, eat different food

all of this adds to peoples unique likes and dislikes! there is no such thing as a "good song"

but there is such a thing as " a song that appeals to some people due to their taste in music that have developed throughout their lifes"

this taste is effected by many factors!

his production are boring, forumlaic and not a patch on his stuff of past times. same goes for his remixes, he just sticks a huge riff on whatever track he is doing, again not the best quality music but very popular cos of what they are.
