Think its time for a new place

She's about 10/11 which is a good age for a big dog. She has a bloody great tumor in her side, we took her to the vets last night, as she's due to have an op to remove the tumor tomorrow, but she's really struggling since yesterday, I've got up this morning and have had to hand feed her her breakfast, she's collapsed through lack of breath in the garden. I just feel so horrible seeing her like it, I just think its more kind to have her put to sleep, its not fair on her. Am waiting for the vet to call back and see what he suggests :(

it would be so much kinder to put her to sleep, its so sad, my dog died of similar circumstances and its very hard. But she may recover after the op and be fine so you need to consider that too.

I still remember so clearly when I had to make the decision to put my first dog to sleep, I cried for days :( :(

Hugs Leese, hope she pulls through babe :(

 soory to hear that Leese, its horrendous losing a dog. I'm sure the vet will advise you wether its best to put her to sleep.
My thoughts are with you honey

Thanks everybody. We're going to see how she gets on this evening, and go from there.

Thing is whenever I've cried in the past she always comes up to see me and have a hug, and now when I'm bursting into tears and she hears me, she's struggling to get herself up to come and see if I'm ok. Have just been snuggling up with her.

I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again everyone

Sorry to hear the bad news Leese.

Hope everything works out for the best whatever the vet says.

I love animals but refuse to have pets because i have seen how upsetting it is for my mum when she's lost dogs/cats.

All the best.

Leese... I feel for you lady.

You are so right that it is not fair for her to live in pain/embarassment/confusion/fright. Some people might say PAH to the embarassment part, but animals are more humanistic than lots may think. They have dignity, too. You have to be an animal lover to understand.

We had to put our gorgeous Siberian Husky-German Shepherd mix Maxmillian down years ago... I grew up with him. He was like the man of my dreams... the perfect combo of strength, badassed-ness and sensitivity lol. He had a cancerous tumor and all the meds gave him doggy sinility... He was losing track of his faculties and was a shadow of his former self (tearing up as I write). It was actually a little bit of a relief for us after we went ahead... we knew he was scampering with his buds in the fields of heaven and free of all his worries then :P :P

My best thoughts are with you, and I hope the vet has good news for you Leese. She obviously lived a wonderful (and spoiled ;) ) life, it is a comfort for you and her to know how adored she was.

-xoxo Sara
