ok.

probably been done before in another format, but last night, I was doing dinner, grilled salmon, salad & new potatoes. I like to to put my freshly boiled new potatoes into a bowl and give them a quick mix up with butter, sea salt & mint sauce. Anyway, the point is that when I tasted one of the potatoes, it was just so nice....it just works!!

so what else gets your tastebuds going like that?
can be as posh, contrived or as simple as you like

another for me is tasting a really strong blue cheese then having a glug of nice red wine :D

On the simple side, nothing pleases like the combination of flavors found in that great American triumph of gastronomy (and simultaneously, self-imposed death sentence):

The Bacon Cheeseburger

you've a point there.

I'm a bit of a purest... I often like to savor that smooth cheese, salty bacon and juicy burger without the aid of condiments.

Nevertheless, a little ketchup & mayo isn't a bad thing and can add sweetness to the flavor mix. I often like to add some pickles and maybe a bit of lettuce.

Im getting hungry

another one (sorry Johnny you may not get this one)

is a nice pork sausage with hp brown sauce

Understand indeed... me loves me sausages!

Although I'd prefer a nice gravy over HP.

So much for skipping lunch today!

Edit: forgot to mention, all the better if the sausages are grilled. Hmmmm...

Bacon & fried egg sarnie on white bread, NO sauce.

The smell of gravy, of course accopmanied with rare roast beef, Yorkie puds, roast pots, cauliflower cheese, roast parsnips.

I bet you do JJ, I bet you do!

Moi - goats cheese baked on a portabello mushroom brushed with garlic8)

phnar, phnar Buckers!! ;)

surely though the mint would be the best bit

have got some portabellos in for dinner tonight, as the missus is eating with friends tonight, so am doing a "non pregnant friendly" dinner of.....baked mushrooms stuffed with gorgonzola wrapped in pancetta, a nice bloody piece of steak with a baked potato & bearnaise sauce :D

washed down with a nice bordeaux i bought back from paris the other week

I just got back this past Friday from a week in Austin. I took the opportunity to indulge myself with some Texas style BBQ (brisket and sausage). Yumm!!! I do not normally like cole slaw, but the cole slaw served with BBQ in TX is finger lickin' gooood.

Morbyd:

One of my sister's co-worker told me that normally east of the Mississippi BBQ includes pork ribs and pork chops and west of the Mississippi is beef based? Is that true?

how do you make yours ? I am very particular about my corned beef hash - mine is simplistic in its gorgeousness....:lol::lol::lol:

although i can make it to a reasonable standard, well it's edible anyway. I've never been able to beat the M&S version.
