The Sadness of an Ibiza Closing Weekend

I was hesitant to go in the first place. I had never been before. I should never have gone. But there was magic now just sadness and a very long wait.

Convinced by friends to make it for Space Closing weekend, I left Paris Friday night connecting in Madrid for the Air Europa flight. It was a great feeling to be waiting at the gate in Madrid for the Ibiza flight and slowly witness the fellow passengers arrive: what a collection of clubbers and beautiful people! It is not often that you come across plane loads of fun party people. I was still in my suit (sans cravate) as I went directly from work to the airport. I definitely looked out of place on the plane (me and a little old granny were the odd ones!).

Arriving at 2 am, I checked into The Ocean Drive hotel. Can't recommend this place. Expensive for what it is and a bit of a dump! Cigarette burns in the bedspread, a shower that is difficult to turn around in and no pool. The buffet breakfast (included in room price) was decent however.
Checked out and met a villa agent who showed me three candidate villas for rent next August. I think I have pretty much made the selection.
Met fellow Ibiza spotlighter Ralphy at Es Torrent for lunch. I love this beach restaurant and it is a must on each and every Ibiza visit. After polishing off a three course meal and a large jug of cava Sangria, we headed to our friends' amazing Architectural Digest-type villa where we would be staying the next few nights. Dropped off our luggage and headed to Sa Trinxa for some drinks and chilling. Great to be back!
But weather was deteriorating after a very sunny, cloudless start.
That night we went to friends' place for a great dinner.
Sunday went to Café Tomate in Ibiza town for breakfast (I recommend it) and some shopping in town (it was grey and actually cold so I needed to buy something a bit warmer!). Plus, very windy. Went to El Chiringuito for lunch - a fun and funny place - with a witty and dark humoured French matron. Saw some French celebrities there and ran into Dany of Danyboat.
Around 20h00 after some champagne and sunset (sun starting to show), we left for Space. It was packed. I had a free invite and just wizzed right through. And here I was in my space at Space! I suddenly felt home again! The vibe was great wherever you went (probably because alot less Italians than in August) and the music was massive! I had a great time with friends old and new! And when Morillo took the new terrace (after an amazing set by Behrouz) the place was exploding! It was difficult to wander around as everyone was now trying to move between Morillo and Digweed! Unbelievable!
Left at I don't know when or how and woke up at 9h00 to see the eclipse that wasn't. Packed and went to the airport for my noon flight. After dropping the car off, I looked up at the sky (around 11h00) and there was the eclipse - almost full - providing for a very eery light.
Now I am back. I had gotten over the post-Ibiza depression after my August vacation and now I am right back in it!!!! Sad that I have to wait nine months before new happiness.
I guess I'll just have to be patient. In the meantime, it is Deep Dish at Queen in Paris on 4 november, Creamfields in Buenos Aires on 12 november and Brazil in February/March.
See you at Space Opening Party in June!!!!!!
