Thank you jjinit for inspiring this post with his great "top ten non-dance" thread. Had to throw in my Pulse album right after responding (with headphones) in order to appreciate the moment fully :P

Pink Floyd has got to be one musical act that has provided me with the most plentifully imaginative, and transportingly ORIGINAL music to ever grace my ears.

"There's no sensation to compare to this... suspended animation...a state of bliss....."

Favorite tunes... amazing moments in concert or at home... songs the DJ's would like to remix...I want to hear it all. Go!!!

-xo PG :P

I have a VideoCD of their Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. It's ace. So much production went into their shows.

Also got The Final Cut, which is good too.

what was i on?
they were never the same after syd barrett left
Pink3.jpg

a pal of mine used to do their lightshow, all floaty coloured oil droplets that we thought were way out man.
and someone on here once outrageously suggested that the floyd never dabbled in drugs even though they were named after a 'genre' of lsd

Rhyl-1986

6, 16yr old mancs, stuck in a caravan all week with nowt to do but smoke weed & listen to "the wall".

18years later in a stroke of genius, whilst back at a friends house, post club, said friend sticks on "comfortably numb"

bliss

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I can't explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb 8)

yeah, not the best track on the album!!

however "take yer mama out" is great, fist heard that played by Chris Coco & Rob Da Bank on the Blue Room about 2yrs ago ;)

I love Pink Floyd and have done since I was introduced to them as a nipper by my older brother. One of my favourite gigs of all time was seeing Roger Waters at Glastonbury replete with quadrophonic sound -- simply amazing :D

AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! I love it I love it...

MUST get that DvD!! I have never had the privilege of seeing them in concert. I stayed up till 2AM last night listening to their music... and then again in the car this morning on the way to work 8) 8) I'm on a PF binge right now. I can't wait to read all these more thoroughly after work this evening. Keep going everyone...

I love the film of "The Wall", like you SuperD i was introduced to them through an older brother - but i remember watching that film on acid when i was about 13 - amazing!

Stephen, I couldn't disagree w/ you more. I think Roger Waters made this band into the icons they are today.

By far, Fearless is their best song. Final Cut is their best album.

/huge Floyd fan

how to go from cult, underground, cutting edge psychedelia to boring corportate stadium MOR rockers in one easy move.

bring back syd! (they tries to once, but he couldn't stand up)

By far the most original, spectacular and timeless band to have ever existed.

Had the pleasure of seeing them quite a few times - the highlight being at Earls Court, the best gig I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Had goosebumps most of the way through - absolutely untouchable.

We are not worthy- I bow down to them

i suppose if you are dance music fans then george formby would probably seem original, spectacular and timeless!

yeah ive had some pretty late nights myself,in 1976 i was at the birmingham nec watching elo,i was there cheering them on saying come back on elo and carry on playing.!

They're recognized not only as the best PF tribute band in Spain but also one of the best in Europe... and they're from Menorca!

They've already played in Ibiza (two dates at Can Ventosa in 2016) and it was superb... this time at the beach and for free, yay!
