The independent

It is a serious newspaper. It is left leaning.

It also has the smallest circulation of the 4 main UK "quality" newspapers (Times, Telegraph, Guardian, Indy).

Hola

What kind of newspapers is the independent? is it serious, right, left?

Thanks

lol - er, its independent!

As the name suggests I guess. Serious paper making a serious loss month on month.,. More biased towards left than right but tires to give a well rounded viewpoint.

Should also note that it's not as well written as the Guardian or even Telegraph, but less tabloidy than the Times.

I don't see why it's so funny unless in the UK every single media name gives a real idea of the attitude of the newspaper/magazine/TV... in Spain it doesn't happen

No such thing as Independent when it comes to papers.

It's a great lefty-ish paper tho, I love it.

Prefer the Guardian however.

When you say well written do you mean literally or do you also mean investigation and all that?
I've just seen an article really really shocking about catalan and spanish relation which obviously has a lack of investigation or at least only gives a very biased photo of the situation

I was laughing at the irony of it all......that is all.

it's circulation is only small cos it is young compared to the other papers.

it has a history of employing some of the most prominent journalists in the UK over the years. generally centre left.

whats the link sil??

http://news.independent.co.uk/europe/article2594158.ece

The info it gives may be considered correct cos actually only explains what that twat from Cervantes says... But I think it would be fair to draw the real situation which is far from what the Cervantes twat says :?
Sil
This is not to disagree with you, but do you have a link or know of a story with the other view point. I don't know about this and I am curious. thanks

It's not a "story" it's real life and real situation in Catalunya, not a story. I could try and explain you but far too complicated in english

In Jay's question, Sil, the word "story" is the equivalent of "article". It does not mean story as in a tale of some sort ;)

I know, but what I try to say is that it's far too complicated and there's far too many things involved in to understand the situation with a story.
A bit like trying to understand the Basque Country situation reading 1 article of 1 newspaper :D

Indie cracking writers like Robert Fisk & Johan Hari for instance, but no real news breaking as such as its budget is to small. Media land is a better place for its existence tho.
