Kick-starting the month of April we’re delighted to welcome back Above & Beyond and their Anjuna family for what promises to be another epic showing from some of the best in the business. Having last rocked it for us at our sell out New Years Eve event at Ministry of Sound the guys return to showcase their Anjunadeep imprint and launch its second compilation at The Gallery on Friday 3rd April.

Anjunadeep, is Above & Beyond’s melodic and progressive house offshoot that’s grown from being a promising sibling label to a dynamic and influential imprint in its own right, winning fans such as James Zabiela, Desyn Masiello, Eric Prydz, Sasha, and Laurent Garnier along the way, and receiving a nomination for Best Record Label at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards 2008. The label’s debut compilation, Anjunadeep 01, was released in February to rave reviews across the dance music spectrum, including Mixmag’s ‘Compilation of the Month. Above & Beyond will be leading proceedings with a 3 hour set in the Box. The much loved threesome began 2008 playing to 1 million people on New Year’s Eve in Rio (thought to be the largest live DJ gig ever) - an auspicious start and another milestone in their fast-rising journey to becoming “one of Britain’s biggest dance outfits” (The Sun). Above & Beyond have just been installed as the World’s No.4 DJs in DJ Mag’s latest Top 100 Poll – their highest ranking to date - and they recently brought south London to a standstill with their ‘Anjunabeats Volume 6’ album launch at The Gallery, MOS in October. Above & Beyond were also recently voted 11th in Mixmag’s list of the best dance acts of the past 25 years and their weekly radio show is a regular fixture in the iTunes music podcast Top 10, mirroring the success of their OceanLab album, ‘Sirens of the Sea’, which was a Top 10 seller in both the UK and US iTunes sales charts. However, statistics tell only a fraction of the story. Their rise to global attention is seen through the eyes of tens of thousands of music fans worldwide each weekend. Now captured on their Youtube channel, Tony, Paavo, and Jono’s exploits have taken them to all four corners of the earth. Highpoints in recent months include a monumental show in Beirut, a trail-blazing visit to Bolivia, and a bus tour across the USA, including a career-defining performance at the Coachella festival.

Joining them will be fellow label producer Ollie Smith whose recent run of good form with releases and huge DJ appearances has fast cemented himself a reputation as one of the new breed of emerging trance stars. Whilst the Box is rounded off by the inclusion of trance production legend and firm favourite Lange. Invited by the Anjuna camp as a special guest to round off this launch party we can expect the usual bevy of great tracks and killer riffs from the man who can!

The Bar welcomes headline action courtesy of Jody Wisternoff and Jay Tech. Between breaking through to the DMC Hip Hop finals as a fresh faced 13 year old in 1986, and putting the finishing touches to his band’s fourth studio album in 2008 a lot has happened for Jody Wisternoff. One half of dance-music powerhouse Way out West, Jody has toured the world and been responsible for some of dance music's most seminal tracks. A welcome addition to the lush prog sounds of the Anjunadeep room he will be headlining proceedings. Jay Tech has been a name rapidly on the ascent with a string of big tunes including ‘Spacelift’ and ‘Essence’. Producing since he was 14 and hailing from Australia; Jaytech is certainly one not to miss as he continues to showcase his melodic sound across the globe winning plaudits and fans from all quarters. Mark Landragin gets in on the warm up whilst label boss and Anjunadeep A&R James Grant completes the all-star lineup. Get Twisted return to blast out the beats in the Baby Box, with those Subbass DJs throwing down a big phat dollop of largeness in the Loft!

ABOVE AND BEYOND INTERVIEW

Morning guys, how does The Gallery find you on this fine day?
Very good thanks, we're on a train from Edinburgh, where we played last night, to Birmingham where we play tonight.

You are playing this coming Friday at The Gallery at Ministry of Sound, what can we expect from you?
The Gallery is like a second home to us: the move to Ministry of Sound from Turnmills seems to have been a completely positive step: the vibe is just as good but the layout of the club and the sound in the club and The DJ booth are amazing, so we love it there. You can expect our usual high energy show with lots of new Anjunadeep and Anjunabeats tunes and some great new OceanLab remixes we're road testing ahead of the remix album which is coming in the summer.

What else have you been up to of late in terms of productions, remixes and other news?
We remixed Radiohead a little while ago, finished the Club Mix of OceanLab "On A Good Day" and are working on our new Above & Beyond album in between our DJ dates which are numerous.

What can we expect from you in the coming months and the summer season?
We're off to the Miami Winter Music Conference where we'll be hosting our own night at Karo & Y with guests Cosmic Gate, Josh Gabriel, Jody Wisternoff and many more. We've been nominated for eight IDMA Awards which is more than we've ever had before, so that's nice. We're getting ready to take Above & Beyond live when the new album is finished so we're doing a few shows with Zoe Johnson ("Good For Me", "No One On Earth") to try a few things out

What are the top three tunes rocking it for you at the moment?
The new Sunny Lax track "Reborn" is a new track that's going to be huge, Andrew Bayer's Remix of OceanLab "Secret" is very special and the new Nitrous Oxide track "Aurora" is also incredible.

What new producers / rising talent has really caught your attention of late?
We've liked a lot of Andy Duguid's remixes of late, he has a really nice sound going on and from our own stable Andrew Bayer/Signalrunners has been consistently excellent - they are always evolving and always surprise you.

And finally whats your favourite thing about visiting London?
Well we all live here so coming here means coming home, but if I was from outside London I'd have to say the stuff on the river in the centre of town is very special. Even just walking over Waterloo bridge near sunset will take your breath away.
