The Disco Thread

I saw Goblin live a few years back. Claudio Simonetti and his ever changing band. This fascinating mix of horror film soundtracks, euro disco and occasional prog rock or even metal. Dawn of the Dead visuals on the screen behind! All a bit 'Spinal Tap' but a lot of fun.

here's my disco fix for today

Greg Wilson looks back at some of the re-edits which emerged in the post-2000s. I think on the whole his were really good (especially on the classic Credit to the Edit Vol 1 and 2 series), giving a new lease of life and new ears to largely forgotten old electro-funk and disco. It's just a shame a lot of lazy opportunists later got involved, making snidey bootlegs with extended loops of "Dreadlock holiday" or "Just the way it is" and not adding much else.

Autumn is another highlight on those series. It easily stands the test of time. Actually I thought it was brand new when I first heard it around 2017. Played it on various occassions and was recommending it to almost everyone. One of my favourite tunes around the time
