the club formerly known as angel's (80s), zulú (mid-90s winter-only), angel's el cel (2002), penelope (2005) and heaven (2007) will reopen after five years closed :!:

after the owner of the building died, the
rumour circulating around was that his family sold it to build apartments but nothing ever happened there and it was abandoned as you can see in the pictures posted by icebaer69, our fellow forum member specialized in climbing up to roofs (!!).....

never ever expected a re-opening of this location as a club.

besides the brilliant penelope-logo it was nothing special -
at least since they had to relocate the main entrance from the sea-side
to the former backdoor - and the last years it was open this club "felt" like
dozens of other average clubs at home with no ibiza-feeling/vibe.

with the completion of bazillions of appartment-buildings and the ibiza gran hotel
parking etc is already a nightmare in this area in main season when pacha is open 7 nights/week.
neighbours won´t be amused and controlling noise-emissions will be difficult.

actually there wasn´t that much climbing involved ...
... just took the stairs to the rooftop  ...
where you had to "climb" over some garbage like old matresses and stuff
lying around on these stairs

It's gonna be a bling thing

 omg

a bling thing
there ??
even if you invest 10.000.000 $$$$$$$ or more this will never (at least more than few weeks)
work as a bling thing - because it´s all about location, location and location.
and LIO - the real bling thing (in a positive way) is just steps away ...

I remember going there for the Penelope opening (I think with Monza?)
Still smelled like fresh paint

Wasn't a bad venue or party. But they've built so much around it now.
Curious to see how this will turn out.

WOW! 2013 is going to be an absolute blood-bath! The venue is slam-bang in the middle of Lio & Pacha. The partnership with Ushuaia & the new velue could be a strong challenge to Pacha if they get their acts to follow them there for an after-party.

I am really interested just what direction Pacha will take next season. Whittle was always right about the focus being on the DJ, and I am not sure what decade Urgell is in. The days when people just turned up for a party are long gone (though Pool Disco at Ushuaia slightly dis-proved this theory last year).

Who knows maybe even the "Vagabundos" crew could up-sticks and join Whittle! Now that would shake the island to its foundations!

Pacha is inherently an Ibiza brand. I know it came from Barcelona but people in Ibiza are very proud of its name and the right image its projects of the Island. IMO Pacha should always reflect what Ibiza is about from a local viewpoint rather than what other people think it should look like. Danny did a great job in building that image and putting it on the map worldwide. It is sad that he has left as Pacha will undoubtedly miss his communication and PR skills. But everybody is replacable thesedays and there are some good new people lined up from what I hear. I think it was time for Danny to move on especially if Ricardo and him were not agreeing on policy. No use banging your head against a wall all the time. As I said on the blog he will be a formidable adversary and Ricardo will have to watch his rearguard all the time. That said I would feel Ricardo is quiet capable of bringing Pacha to its next level....and I look forward to what he has planned. Rivalry is good..... keeps people on their toes. As you say exciting times ahead......

yes - but only for these lost souls who think it´s a good idea to invest a serious amount of money in THAT location.

actually it is "slam-bang" in the middle of nothing.
i´m not the biggest fan of pacha but i remember many nights when we wanted to give that location called angels at it´s heyday a second chance, but we always hated it inside
and went to pacha.
the comparison to lio is a joke - because it´s all about LOCATION, LOCATION and LOCATION
and lio will always be a million miles ahead because it´s on the "right" side of the street
and at the very end of that pier with one of the best views possible.
can´t imagine ex-angels will be allowed to open anything to the seaside with pumping bass
besides a little terrace for the smokers maybe.
the appartment-building next door is so ridiculous close to the disco
that they probably will get in trouble with neighbours, authorities etc very soon.
parking in main season even now without an additional disco is alreay a nightmare
in that area since the opening of the gran hotel.

maybe i´m wrong - but this is a suicide-commando .

i'll say it, i know everyone else is thinking it. it's SO boring to come back on spotlight after a month of not checking in, to see you're still linking to your own gutter press, sensationalist, incendiary blog. It's just bull**** and hype and rubbing people up totally the wrong......

....as is evidenced by the fact danny even responded on twitter to tell you it was nonsense.

So, in fact, you're pointing everyone to a blog with a story about someone who actually rubbishes the story at the end. Genius!!

I notice that your still the happy go lucky, cheerful, and nice individual that you've always been.....

Yet another option for a place to head to, different venue can only be good IMO.
Not a fan then you don't have to go :D
