The Big Chill

firstly, a big thanks to SuperD for the insiration and the company.

The Big Chill is the most lovely festival. the chill refers to the attitude, not esp the music.

Imagine a kinda glastonbury about a third of the size. remove ALL the scallys and most of the indie kidz type teenagers

Set it in a valley in the beautiful english countryside. add sunshine. add the most chilled atmosphere, an art trail, good (and sometimes great) food, loads of diverse bars (including a cocktail bar :D ) ,some children and some diverse music.

The music was great, eclectic. Rock, house, folk, dub, funk, soul, d&b, ambient,hip-hop, techno, breaks, bluegrass, pop, disco and classical, i heard it all.

My highlights were a barnstorming full on techno workout from Carl Craig, Jerome Froese (ex tangerine dream) ambient noodlings, an Alex Patterson (Orb) vs Jimmy Caulty(KLF) soundclash, Nitin Sawhney's indian soundscapes and Tom Middleton's mash up.

Oh and The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britian were cool, as were the Swingle Singers and the ever excellent Mixmaster Morris.

But like all festivals, it's most of all about sitting around with yer mates, making new mates, listening to music and getting mashed. what's not to like?

going back next year. the big chill is, well the most chilled of places.

The big chill is definately one of my fave festivals...it attracts such a lovely crowd.
You don't get any pikey twats and the music is always an education.
Have been to Eastnor a few times for it but didn't make it this year because of the clash with the Brighton festivities.
Ah well, there's always next time.
Glad you enjoyed. 8)
