Tenaglia speaks out....

Sorry but you're soooooooo wrong!

You remember Paul yeah? Well, he's got loads and loads of wicked 'funky house' tracks that are nothing like HK/Defected etc.

Sorry but I think I'm sooooooo right

I've seen loads of funky house sets in my time and they just never do it for me, I just go away feeling that bit unsatisfied

Each to their own tho, if we all liked the same music then it would be a very boring world that we live in.

Maybe but it doesn't alter the fact that not all 'funky house' sounds like Hed Kandi etc.

Take Chewie's no. 10 (cd2) for example :P

Edited: Not saying cd1 is like HK that is!

I like music - I don't care what label it's on

When did label snobbery start anyway?

In my case its nowt to do with snobbery - i just don't particularly like the vast majority of the music output from those labels

in a way labels do influence what I buy at least.

eg. I like DJ Spen - Gabryelle (Defected). wouldnt call that track a bog standard funky houser... only happens for once in my life i knew what the name of the track was and would have bought it even if it was out on that label who brings us flip and fill... then again, would i have?

I think Defected brings out such a wide range of "funky house" i wouldnt even think of saying they're predictable. they aint exactly flooding the "charts" with one track after another.

who gives a flying funk anyways so long as people are smiling and dancing away... much rather play something familiar now and again to keep the non-goouteveryweekend people on the dancefloor, than have an empty one...

I just don't like it as a 'genre' that's all in whatever form it takes if music is being categorised. I prefer my music a bit diiirrrtier.

I wouldn't know about Chewie's CD as I have only got a couple of them and they weren't my thing.

Anyway I still stand by my comment that Danny Tenaglia is a very strange choice for a DITH CD

I would probably say i'm pretty similar TBH, but i've been quite surprised how much i've enjoyed some of the more 'funkier' nights out and some of the 'funky' stuff i've heard at some of my DJ friends places.

Chewie I didn't want to hurt your feelings  ;)

Just not my thing I'm afraid, I'm sure if you're into that kind of music they are very good at what they're meant to do, but that's why I don't ask for them, save your pennies for postage and CDs on someone who'll appreciate them ;)

Now will anyone agree with me that Danny T is a very strange choice for DITH CD

hey i appreciate good honest feedback! - wouldnt hurt my feelings whatsoever if you thought they were crap! (theres only one way my feelings get hurt, but thats another story).

if someone cant take critsimsmsmsm in whatever walk of life they work in... they shouldnt be doing what theyre doing. 8)

as for DT... much rather it was an ITH release than a MOS pres... type one..

I'm not saying they were crap, I'm just saying they weren't my taste in music so I'm not a good person to give criticism on a CD that just isn't to my music taste. It's like asking me to review a Hed Kandi CD  ;)

So do I, I think the Krivit one is brilliant (NB date for the diary Krivit and Clausell @ Ministry 30 July ;) ) but I just don't see how Danny Tenaglia fits into the whole Defected thing :?

Blimey you know when you wish you'd never replied to an initial post  ;)

Well if you've started mixing NDSM/Carter/boompety boomp type CDs then I'll definitely be on the blag in future  ;)

I've enjoyed all your CD's Chewie but no. 10 is definately more my kind of taste.

Can't wait for 11 ;)

There is still a slight possibility that we might do Global, Tom is wetting his pants @ the Oakie/Deep Dish/Sasha Friday night line-up but I don't see point in just going for Friday night and the Saturday line-up isn't that good imo.

This thread is well and truly hijacked isn't it  ;)
