teeth whitening

anyone done it or known anyone that has?

a friend is spouting about how he wants to get it done. He went for a consultation and decided to get 'hollywood white - looks good both on screen and off'

considering he works in PR and never gets on the telly we're trying to convince him it'll look ridiculous!

One word - Ross (from friends!!)

:D :D :D

   Beat me to it!!! 'specially if he is a fan of tanning booths.....

I spoke to my dentist about this a few months ago - convinced my teeth were turning a funny colour... he talked me out of it, he showed me a tooth colour chart (much the same as a Dulux paint shade card :D ) apparently my teeth have only discoloured by one shade which is apparently not bad for someone of my age, who smokes, drinks shit loads of tea etc.

In his opinion, he thinks not enough research has gone into teeth whitening in the long term and that at the end of the day they will end up damaging the enamel coating on your teeth which in turn will make the teeth very porous and in time cause a lot of pain through sensitivity. His advice, if you were going down that route would be to go for porcelain veneers (unfortunately they cost thousands of pounds per tooth - eeeeek!!!)

get it done by the dentist rather than buying self-whitening kits or any whitening products...........saw them talkin about it on big brother last year.

think it costs up to £500 but they do a good job and last for a good few years i think (10 maybe).

the kits you buy from argos for £40 can often leave some parts white and the other parts lookin the normal colour, so it makes them look a lot more yellowish (natural colour of teeth) than would do if u didn't bother at all.

:? :? :?

I think we're just going to have to try and convince him that "hollywood white" isn't really the best shade choice for him... I think that's only 1 from the top choice (which presumably is something like "glow in the dark")

:?: Why on earth are your turning down the comedy potential here? Let him go full beam and make sure all your mates where slip their shades on when ever he enters the pub!

advice taken...

hunting the internet now for pictures of celebs with brown teeth, to show him that hollywood white isn't bright enough.

are there any celebs with brown teeth or is this going to be a completely futile exercise? ah well, anything that takes up 10 mins

Shane McGowan's were brown before they fell out....

Apparently Simon Cowell is a fan of the hollywood white shade..... tell him that - that should put him off (well it should.... :? )
