SUMMER SEASON 2008: SOPHISTICATED FUNK JOIN FORCES WITH SUPERMARTXE AT PRIVILEGE, IBIZA AND OTHER PARTY VENUES.

Following a successful summer season in 2007 at Amnesia with Armada, as well as performing various one off nights across the island at other top venues, Sophisticated Funk have spent their winter season touring in select European urban dance clubs. They’ve also been in the studio finishing tracks for their forthcoming debut album.

Now back on the island for summer season 2008 Sophisticated Funk are pleased to announce a new working partnership with top Madrid promoters Supermartxe. The party will be at Privilege every Friday starting with the opening party on Friday 27th June, and every Friday for the whole summer season. Sophisticated Funk will be performing live in the famed Cocoloco Room where they guarantee a great vibe and hot dance atmosphere with their personal blend of live funk, hiphop, R & B and rap.

As creativity is vital to Sophisticated Funk’s philosophy, they will be premiering new tracks as they continue working on them through the summer, and every week a new track will be showcased during their Privilege set. Sophisticated Funk are proud to be the first live hiphop and R & B act to be working in a superclub all season long in Ibiza, having introduced the concept in 2007, and to be opening the door for this kind of music in Ibiza.

Popular front man, rapper and dancer Rod Fame has performed globally with artists like Michael Jackson, Grace Jones and the Wu Tang Clan, and is a seasoned choreographer as well as a renowned MC. DJ Moniz is an Ibiza-loving music obsessive who spends all his spare time in his studio outside of Bristol when he is not performing. Joining him is DJ EQ, one of New York’s rising stars on the DJ scene. The three met on the international circuit and came together for last year’s Ibiza season where they were joined on stage by Papi Shank and other friends every week.

The gorgeous sunset beach lounge Bay Bar San Antonio has just been chosen as the official HQ and Friday preparty venue for Sophisticated Funk this season. Other parties will include sets with Supermartxe venues like Angelo’s and Lola’s in Ibiza Town. Parties will be announced on a weekly basis throughout the season.

Friday 27th June 2008 at Privilege Ibiza, starting at eleven with singer Rebeka Brown and top producer/DJ Juanjo Martin, and season regulars Sophisticated Funk, La Fura Dels Baus and others. Come, see.
