i'm very opinionated, i'll grant you that

you're looking at this from your viewpoint as a government employee. if you weren't do you think you'd care too much or see what the big fuss is about?

Be nice people... no need to jump on Phil's back for trying to protect the terms and conditions to which he agreed at the time of his employment.

I think any of us would want the same... doesn't matter if those terms are cushy or not.

Im too much of a stoner to offer a good argument or think of one right now.

To be fair I should be on the picket, but Im not, imn treating it as a day off work. Goin through with pals to Edinburgh for a nice day out. The battle hardened women do a better job of getting their points across. I doubt I'll be in the scheme when Im retiring age anyway. In facvt, I hope not to be working to that age anyway. In principal its pretty shady how you can sign a contract and have its terms changed. Again, doesnt really affect me, but it affects my colleagues. And Im no a scab ;)

Morb over here, EVERYBODY hates Civil Servants, unless you are one of course.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Civil Servants are universally hated the world over

But on an empirical level, no one wants people changing the terms of their employment mid-stream (unless it's for the better) so it makes sense that you'd want to protect the terms you've got.

yeah.... what he said 8)

now, bed beckons.

no i forgot im going to edinburgh. could be a long day. might time it so i can shout at the scabs in edinburgh when they are coming out of work.

+++++
i work for a local authority but i'm in work today for several reasons.
1) i'm with henry ford and don't agree with unions (N.B. in general i mean, however, there are some notable exceptions)...........they are full of militant little hitlers looking to cause trouble.
2) council/public sector peeps have got it easy anyway, if you don't like flexi-time, inefficiency and snail's pace working environment - then go to the private sector:p
3) i can't afford to not come into today.
4) anyone who calls me a scab without knowing who am i, where i come from and what my values are has clearly got no brain cells (probably how they got a job with the council - eqaul opps and all that).

the defence rests...........

8)

Im no off the day but wish I was, took me well over an hour to get to work this morning (only 10 miles). As there were no buses in Edinburgh today traffic was a nightmare :spank: Think I will have to leave work early tonight

My G/F is off the day though, her work is closed. The support staff where she works are employed by the local authority resulting in the whole place closing......

calm down calm down!!!

i didn't say anyone called me a scab.........i was just saying that if some lowlife remedial class dropout council employee shouts scab at me............then i'd think they were even more stupid than i already do:p.

are you taking the piss, its a holiday camp:D

Just to say this is not about public sector versus private sector, this is about parity within the public sector.

The government has exempted civil servants, teachers, police officers, armed forces etc from these changes, but not local government staff. This doesn't just mean pen-pushers but essential (and generally low paid) public sector workers like classroom assistants, police community support officers, dinner ladies and bin men.
