Stopping in BCN...

Has anyone ever caught a flight to Ibiza which has one stop in BCN? Have you got enough time to dash into the town and have a quick look around (there's 4hrs between flights) or is it quite out in the sticks? Or are there enough shops/bars to keep us occupied in the airport?

:?

We figured out last year that our 4 hour layover didn't quite give us enough time to really get anything done with travel time, check in, etc., so we just waited it out in the airport. One caveat: we were on 2 different airlines (Iberia->Aeroflot) and couldn't check in early for the 2nd flight, so we would have had to track down the baggage lockers too.

This year we scheduled a 24 hour layover/decompression period for the trip home.

Barcelona airport is great, there's plenty of things to do to pass the time, you wouldn't have time to leave airport but there's plenty of shops/bars etc.

We've got a 2 hour gap in Barcelona at New Year and it'll go in no time considering you've got to get off flight go thru etc etc etc.

Is this for you September trip :D  ;)

Becki don't do it- Me, Russ, Mark and others all got stranded there overnight last year. We got sent to a hotel in the middle of nowhere and the didn't even give us anything to eat  It was a bloom9ing nightmare. I would never do that flight again.

Just looking HYPOTHETICALLY ;)

I'm not worried about on the way there we can go and grab something to eat or whatever, its just on the way home when Im a gibbering wreck I dont know if I can deal with 3 airports in one day 8O

YOu need about 30 minutes to get to the city center and 30 more minutes to get to the airport, that would give you aprox 1 hour to visit the city what it would mean one hour in Las Ramblas 8O I don't think it's worth, you better stay in the airport taking advantage of the duty free shops and the air conditioned ;)

We had to change on the way home last year and it was quite harsh. Alun made us RUN through the airport because he had the times mixed up and thought we were going to miss our connecting flight. My poor body...

First choice are the dearest out of the lot Rach!

Ok.... the direct flights are about £30 more (each) than the non direct flights. BUT the non-direct flights are at really good times, we leave UK at 9am Thurs morning and arrive back 11pm Tues night. Whereas the flight back on the direct one is quite horrible, arriving back in the UK at 4am :?

Mmm decisions decisions, altho the flight times are much better with non-direct you have to factor the change in to your times. I know our flight @ New Year with 2 hour change over in Barcelona takes 6 hours in total to Ibiza so even tho you leave at 9am Thurs morning you won't be getting to Ibiza til late Thursday afternoon and at the other end you'll have to leave Ibiza mid Tuesday afternoon on the Tuesday to be back at 11pm Tues night.

For the sake of £30 (which you'll probably spend on wine, food and duty-free in Barcelona airport) I'd probably opt for direct on this occasion.

Personally, I'd say an hour in Barcelona is better than nothing.

I need to return!

HOla Clara :D

Well hello! Been trying to stay away from here as the prospect of not returning this year was far too depressing but it looks as though it might just happen now.

How are you?

If you are a guy who finds a sports magazine in the toilet the 4 hours pass pretty quickly.
