Stabbing of Anthony Walker

Don't know how true this is but;

spoke to a guy at work today who lives in the area. Apparently the lads were in the pub earlier on during the day looking for someone and flashing the weapon about. The landlord took it off them but then let them have it back when they were leaving. Looks very much like they were intent on using it and the poor guy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He also said that the area was very quiet last night apart from the occasional car with blacked-out windows driving past. Lets just hope that it does'nt lead to more mindless violence although in this case it may be warrented.

Like i said don't take it as gospel, you know how the rumour mill works.

All I know is that it is pretty rough round there to say the least and some idiots don't need a reason.

Are you serious when you say; the poor guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Britain is a civilised country not some african/arab dictatorship

Nasty, horrible story...really does make you take (another) step back and pontificate (grown up word) on what's happening in the world these days. :? :(

...but then I come to realise that these nasty bastards (axe murderers/suicide bombers) really are in the minority and it's amazing how much destruction a small number of people can cause.

You only have to look at Live 8 to see that collectively we can be an alright bunch really.

...Just trying to put a positive spin on things.

RIP Anthony - poor bugger.

Very serious. It may be a civilised country, but there is nothing civilised about some of the people who live here. Fortunately as Robder wrote, it is the minority.

The whole point is not to bend for the minority b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s but no put evrybody in the same basket.

I thought the same last night...

In the US, they're coming up on 1000 executions since reinstatement of the death penalty in 1977. The 1000 was supposed to be this week in my home state, Virginia, but the governor commuted the sentence because DNA evidence which may or may not have proven the convicted's innocence was destroyed.

In this case, there seems to be little doubt as to the guilt of the parties. Still, I can't get my head around the death penalty. Seems wrong... though sometimes you can't help but think someone deserves it.

i think it must be made clear that joey barton hardly knows or knew his brother...................they were brought up in separate homes and were merely acquantices rather than good friends.

joey is a good lad at heart who has just got a wild streak (who hasn't)............ he was instrumental in bringing his brother to justice, including giving evidence against him in the trial.

Anthony's Mum is an absoloute Angel, what an amazing woman.
I can't believe the tiny sentence those two monstors got, what is wrong with our justice system? No doubt when they get out they will get new identities, a house, car, cash and basically have more than most honset, hard working 32 year olds. Makes me sick grrrrrrrr

True... her offer of forgiveness is truly mindbogglingly beautiful. I couldn't do it.

As for the sentences - travesty. How do you not get life in prison for killing someone with an axe to the head? Unbelievable.

i think if anyone would go up to someone (black/white/whatever) and hit them over the head with an ice pick, then its surely clear to see that they would have at some stage, killed someone else.

i mean its not like even stabbing someone or shooting them (body) where survival rates can be high. an ice pick in ur head only means one thing and forgetting the racism for a minute, both parties are clearly lost causes and should never be released.
